Has anyone who made their reservation with the Cosco coupon actually picked up their car yet? Were you required by Alamo to show proof of Cosco membership?

Thanks! :cool1:

No, we didn't have to show anything. I gave him our papers with confirmation and additional driver included and he asked if we wanted to pay for the additional driver. I said, it says right on the paper it includes the additional driver, he said, I didn't look at the papers. I printed off the coupon and stapled it to the confirmation and he didn't look at that either. I'm going again on the May long weekend and I don't forsee any problems then.

Thanks for your reply. We are getting close and I am nervously trying to get all my chicks in a row! :thumbsup2  :cool1: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :yay:

Twende,
Did you join *Quick*silver*?

If you did you will go over to the garage and check in over there only if you want the additional driver. If you don't want the additional driver, pick out your class of car and drive it to the exit and do your paper work there. I have used the Costco coupon several times with out a hitch. I am really glad I got *Quick*silver* though, the lines inside were very long and that is where you get the hard sells.

Good luck.

I had to put the * in there to allow the name to be posted.

I tried to join the un-named club but we do not use regular credit cards. We only use a credit/debit card and without a credit card they will not let us join! :confused3

I figure if we have to wait then we will wait. I mean we are on vacation so doing nothing should not be "that" bad! :rotfl2:

DH will get tired of waiting but he is the one who really wants the car and it will give us much more freedom for the rest of the time so we will have to be patient if the lines are really bad. :teeth:

Thanks for the idea though. I do appreciate it. :thumbsup2

I thought Alamo does not allow you to use a coupon if you do the online check-in. Has this changed?

That is not advanced checkin. It is their version of EA from National. I have done this many times with a coupon. You just are by-passing the inside counter.

Poorman,

This is the first I have heard about being able to bypass the counter in the garage; I thought all QS people still had to check in. Maybe I won't let my DH do any of the driving this year! I assume you need to check in with the extra driver to get their license information on the reservation?

AFAIK the only reason to check in at the garage is to add a driver. I think it is a easy as EA ,but the National rates have gone out of sight.

rant here..... Alamo is one of the most inconsistent companies!!!!

We rent there every year.. Sometimes they ask for our BJS card, other times they don't.. They informed me that you MUST go to the counter if you are using a coupon even though we only had 1 driver...
another emloyee told me you can't do the prepay with a coupon, some said yes you can... some have said you can mix some promo's but not others and they didn't know which you could and which you couldn't...

Get my drift?? :confused3

We just returned from Disney yesterday(April 27th). I had a print out of our Alamo reservation and a print out of Costco coupon. I handed over the two papers and the agent never asked for Costco card or even looked at the coupon.

We are Costco members but just FYI on the the Costco website they never ask for you to enter your membership number at anytime.

I'm rarely asked to prove eligibility for any discount; AP, AAA, Entertainment Book, COSTCO etc but I never reserve a discount I'm not entitled to. I can usually get a rate very close using a "legal" discount and I'm not willing to risk being one of the few, or at least first, posters who got stuck with a rack rate/list price reservation.
