We have a Tahoe booked with Alamo all inclusive inc extra driver and gas but cannot use the kiosk check in - or for the same price a traverse booked through Hertz and we are gold club members so we can go straight to the parking garage but wil need to pay for gas. Only 4 travelling but inc a 19month old so tempted by the straight to garage, any opinions?

I prefer Alamo. They are not a picky about the condition of the vehicle. Meaning if there is a small scratch they usually ignore it. Hertz on the other hand will charge for the small scratch.

Why are you prepaying for the gas? You do relize that you will need to return the vehicle almost empty in order for this to be a good deal for you.
For example if you cars gas tank hold 20 gallons of gas and you return the car with say a half of a tank of gas. They are going to bill you for 20 gallons of gas not 10 gallons! They always bill based upon the size of the tank not for how much they actually had to put in to make it full.
If you only have to put in 10 gallons at almost $4.00 a gallon you would pay $40.00 to fill the tank but if they have to fill it they will bill you $80.00

Also why are you not able to use the Kiosk to check in?

Not a fan of National/Alamo. Love Hertz. The cars are in great condition. If you are a member of AAA they offer a great discount at Hertz.

Typically Hertz' vehicles will be better equipped (creature comforts) then other brands, that is part of their purchasing program (now there are definately exceptions). I pretty much exclusively use Hertz for my personal and business rentals.

As another poster mentioned, usually it's not value added to pre-pay fuel, unless you know you are going to be doing a lot of driving or are going to have a very short window for return where stopping for fuel would impact your return time.
