Alamo standard size?

I have a vehicle reservation at Alamo at MCO. I used a double coupon upgrade from compact to standard. In the past they put me in a midsize but I thought I recently read on here that if you have a standard reservation you should get a full size at MCO. How do I make sure they give me a full instead of a mid when I've reserved a standard?

We didn't ask, we just picked a car from the full size isle and went to the booth. The full size in the past used to indicate Malibu or similar, those Malibu's were in the full size isle, so if they tried to put us in a mid size, that would have been our argument.

I think their standard size online when you reserve now says Ford Fusion or similar. If you see those in the full size isle, then pick from that isle. If they argue, show them the confirmation indicating Ford Fusion or similar. If the Fusion is in the full size isle, it would be ahard argument that a similar car is a mid-size.

How do you make sure you get a Full Size? Pay for the Intermediate instead of the Compact and your double coupon will bring you up to a Full Size.

Ah, but then I pay more money and I'm cheap. I'm fine with the smaller car. DH would like the bigger car. I'll just tell him the bigger car is only a possibility and wait see.

The reason it matters is that Alamo "reclassified" their fleet. What the EPA classes as a compact (and occasionally even a subcompact), Alamo classes as a mid-size, or "intermediate".

If you want what the EPA classes as a mid-size, you need to go no smaller than a "standard" on Alamo's list. Most of their "standard" and "full-size" cars at MCO are classed by the EPA as mid-sized; the Impala is the exception, as it is a true "large" car by EPA standards. Other things I've seen Alamo classify as full-sized: Nissan Altima, Pontiac G6, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima.
