Does anyone have any experience with this? I just signed up and it looks great. Just go to your car and drive away showing only your reservation, CC, and license. Hope it works ok

Yes, super easy and works great.
We will book Alamo or National, even if it's not the cheapest this is a great convenient option that is worth a little extra IMHO.

Been doing it for years now and it works wonderful. :sunny: Occasionally, there will be a coupon I use with my Alamo rental that will not allow me to go straight to the garage and pick out a car. Even then, I just use the Kiosk inside the airport to check in . . . only takes a few extra minutes. I only look at Alamo now because of the ease of picking up the car; used to love National, but they have been too expensive for a long time.

We do this every time we rent, and we have never had an issue. It is so nice to just walk by the long lines at the counter and go straight out to a car.

Another huge thumbs up here. Used this at MCO during our xmas week visit and breezed right by the long line at the counters, headed across the street to pick our car and we were on the road 10 minutes later.

We have done this many times and never had a problem. We typically always book Alamo unless there is a significant price difference (not very often). There have been a few times when here were no cars left in our aisle and the attendant just tells you to move on to the next aisle and pick a car. We usually prepay our rental with Alamo also.

We are National Emerald club members, but some Alamo rates seem better so we're thinking about going with Alamo. Does Alamo offer any incentives like free days after so many rentals like National does?

How do I sign up for this? I'm already an Insider.
Go into your profile and fill out all the information. One thing we do not add is our SWA Rapid Rewards #...they add a service fee if you try to get points by renting with Alamo which is our preferred choice. Just an FYI. We go right out to car...pick what we want and go.

Unfortunately, no. I love National, but haven't been able to use them in years due to their higher rates. I have learned that Alamo is almost as good with "skip the counter", other than no free days after so many rentals.

The fee is very small, I think it was like $0.74 on our last rental, worth the cost for the points IMHO

Just returned from Florida renting at Alamo. So easy. Pre paid and checked in on line. Easy to find after we picked up our bags. Found our full size car, hopped in and went to exit. Showed credit card and we were on our way. Easy to rerun also.

I do it every trip. Picking out my own car is really really fun for me. (I drive a 2003 VW Beetle, but rent mid sized SUVs).

We also like Alamo. Even if it is a little more it's worth being able to pick out your own car in aisle. Have found Costco to have the best rates but that can change day to day and week to week. Costco make it easy enough to book and cancel and re book if anything changes.

So just made my first reservation with Alamo (usually use National). I didn't have to provide any credit card information for the reservation. Is this normal? I want to be able to skip the counter like I do with National, but not sure exactly how this works. I've filled out my profile to 100% like was noted above. Is that it? Or do I need to use the online check-in in order to skip the counter? TIA

Just before you leave home, use the online check-in. This is where you will enter credit card info, add your extra driver, etc.
Print the check-in paperwork and take it with you. When you arrive at MCO, just grab your luggage and head out to the Alamo area in the garage. Pick a vehicle (from the aisle/size that you booked and load up. Keys are in the vehicles so just drive to the exit gate and show the paperwork, CC and DL's used for the reservation. The gate attendant will verify all the info, scan out the vehicle, give you a receipt, then open the gate and you are on your way
