Well, we booked our rental car thru Dollar originally and then they jacked up the price when I needed an extra day (one more day on a midsize was going to run me over $100!)....so we booked w/Budget who I thought was a good deal and on-site at the airport. Now I have found a BETTER price w/Alamo and can get a VAN instead of a car for cheaper than either Dollar or Budget. I definitely booked it right away! Does anyone have any reviews of Alamo????
I've always rented from Budget or Enterprise in the past, so don't have experience w/them. Any info would be great! :thumbsup2
THANKS

I have read lots of negative things about the lines at Alamo, but can only comment on my own experience. We used them last week. We arrived at MCO at 3:45PM. Picked up our luggage and went to the Alamo line. I asked my husband to time it, as I knew I would report back. It took 10 minutes to get to the counter (I thought, pretty good). No problem getting our car selection. Just a tiny bit of pressure when the rep asked if we would like to upgrade our minivan to a fullsize SUV (just 2 of us). We said no thanks, and that was the end of that. We left, went to the Alamo aisle (next to the National aisle). Picked up our uplander and drove to the kiosk and showed our receipt. Drop off was easy and simple, especially because national and alamo share the same drop off. This took less than 3 minutes. Overall, I think our first experience with Alamo went smoothly. I checked my receipt, and my credit card statment and all was exactly what I had agreed to (I had used the prepaid method and was nervous that I might get charged twice, but that didn't happen.)

thanks! we are coming in late at night so I don't expect huge lines, but I signed up for their *********** anyway to see if that will quicken the wait-time.

We used Alamo last Oct. I had read all the negative reviews here and was worried. I didn't need to be. No real line, everything went fine. The Budget line at the time was huge though. I had no complaints at all.

We rented from Alamo in January. I had reserved an Equinox and ended up with a Trailblazer - no problem - a very nice vehicle. I was worried about Alamo because of all the negative reviews I had read. To be honest, I've seen their long lines first hand, and I was a little leary to rent from them, but the price was right. Turned out, I wasn't in line long and everything went smoothly. The only glitch was exiting the airport. It seemed to take quite a long time for them to process each car - either that or I chose the wrong line - just like the grocery store :teeth:

Anyway, it was fine and I would rent from Alamo again in the future.

My mom and I used Alamo May 2005 arrived mid afternoon, no line, very nice customer service, great choice of cars, got upgraded for free to a full size. We are using them again this May and I too was worried about the negative reviews. Frankly lines can be long anywhere you go, and you can get a bad rep regardless of what company you use. Since Alamo is owned by National can't really complain about one without complaining about the other.

I wouldn't fret about Alamo just have everything in order print out your confirmation and just relax your on vacation.

Make sure you check around too for coupons for Alamo. I found one being a Costco memeber that gave me a Mid Size SUV for Memorial Weekend for $116 for 9 days. They are a great savings.

Argh! We pricelined a minivan a couple of weeks ago, and the price was great!!! The greatness stopped there. Long slow line (arrived around 7:30 pm) agent preasured to upgrade, made veiled threats about insurance, and was just plain irritating. The whole process took over an hour. I will not go with priceline next year, because I will not use alamo.
