Alamo returns at Dolphin or Car Care Center?

Has anyone dropped a car off at the Dolphin after the counter is closed? I found a really great rate if I rent the car at the airport and drop if off the next day (actually later that day - we're picking up at midnight) then pick up another car the day before we leave and drop it off at the airport.

I think I remember reading somewhere that you could drop the car off with the valet and everything would be taken care of, but I'm not sure. Has anyone done this? Dropped off after the counter has closed? And has this had any effect at all on your rate?

Right now I have a rate of $131 for the week with Dollar, but we don't need a car that much - just a little shopping that we can do in a day (but more than the grocery stop that towncars offer) Looking around I can pick up Alamo and drop off at Dolphin, then pick up the day before we leave at Dolphin and drop off at the airport for just $57.60 - which will give us 2 days with the car to do anything off property we may want to squeeze in which is more than enough.

we have dropped off at the dolphin w/great ease and no hassle at all... it was after the desk was closed... it's just a matter of leaving it w/the valet and telling him/her that you are dropping off your car... no paperwork necessary... not sure what they do next, but whatever it is, it works! LOL! also, they will provide you w/a shuttle back to your resort if you'd like... we usually just grab the bus or boat to a park and watch the late night fireworks... no better way to start your wdw vacation!

Thanks for your reply. Just had to "confirm" that it was as simple as I thought I remembered it sounding (boy was that confusing!) before I actually book. This is probably what we'll do - we don't need a car all week so it's stupid to pay twice that amount when the Dolphin would be just minimally out of our way.

i agree... which is why we do the same thing... what i cannot figure out is why everyone doesn't do it?! it's oftentimes cheaper than taking a car service/taxi/mears!

for picking up a rental on your last day, just call the car care center and they will send a shuttle to your resort (onsite) to take you to pick up your rental... we called early, thinking it might take awhile... imagine our surprise when they said to be out front in 15 minutes and dh was back 20 minutes after that! as convenient as can be!

Yup-really easy-we dropped off before the desk was open-just hand the valet your keys and the rental sleeve and they will mail you your receipt. (This was this past Monday).
