Alamo Rental Car Help

Ok here is my problem. We currently have a rental car for our dates June 9 - 16 from Alamo at Orlando International. But since Airtran kept messing around with our return flights we are now needing to return the car 4 hours later than what I have it booked for. The problem is that I have it booked for June 9th @ 1:30 PM to June 16th @ 2:30 PM and I need it until 6:30 PM. The rates are now more than double. What happens if I return the car 4 hours late? I have never done this before but can the penalty be more than rebooking at twice the cost?

Sorry I can't help but I did try to see what hourly late charges are on their website and can't find them. I would call and ask.

I feel for you about Airtran. They did this to us for our Disney cruise last Oct. and messed up our plans to get home immediately after the cruise. Ended up having to kill a day in Orlando, renting a car, instead of using their convenient Onboard Check In which is why I chose AT to begin with. I really couldn't complain too much considering we were only paying $59 pp.

If I felt like renting a car and hauling our luggage, I would have just booked SW who rarely changes their schedule once it's published. :mad:

Thanks for the advice. I tried to find the same thing but all the website says is that I would get charged the daily rate on that day??? Um ok...helpful...not.

We are actually flying down SW but decided to fly back AT because of the fly times. Plus the rate we got even with paying for bags was just as good as SW.

Cross my fingers that someone else may have some experience.
 
Sorry but after a couple of hours you are charged the whole day rate. You don't need to make a new reservation but you will pay the extra day rate on your contract.

So is it whatever their current day rate is or is it the day rate that my reservation is for?

It should be whatever the day rate is for your existing reservation. I would call Alamo to confirm and explain your situation.
 
Ok I did as you all suggested and called Alamo. I got a lovely customer service agent named Moses. He was able to extend my return time to 8:30 PM just incase AT messes with our flight time again. The cost for the additional time was only another $14.15. So my total is now $160.28. Yeah I am so happy that is taken care of. Now if June 9th will just get here. :cool1:

:thumbsup2 good thing. Better to plan ahead than have surprise fees. Esp when it's time to go home and you're bummed out already. :sad1:
 
You can always return the car to the Alamo Car care center on Disney property with no drop off charges. Alamo car care center has a shuttle that will drop you off at your resort. Then later on in the day you can take the Magical Express bus to the airport. If you plan to drop the car off at the car care center besure to change your rental reservation. You will need to change your rental reservation to show that you plan to drop the car off at the car care center.
You must also call Disney and arrange to take the ME bus from your resort to the airport.

So true. I can not believe how cheap they made it. So much better than what the website was saying. Now if June 9th will just get here. Thanks everyone for the help.
