I just decided to check Alamo's rate for a standard SUV that I currently have for $189 and now its up to over $300 :earseek: I just got that $189 rate yesterday. Why is the jump so big?

My Alamo Rate actually went down. Go figure! I got a mid size for 4 days with my entertainment coupon and the grand total is... are you ready..... $37.05! :Pinkbounc I still can't decide if I want to rent or just do ME.

I had the same problem. Last night an SUV was listed as174.58 and with tax would be189.37. I wasn't sure what to do as lots of people had complaints about Alamo. I waited and today it is up to over 300.00 also. oh well guess I missed that one.

Alamo rates seem to change hourly. :rotfl2: I snagged a Luxury car for less than a Compact yesterday for the end of September. Today, the price shot up $150.00.

Same here, I have a convertable for 7 days for 135.46 total and I just checked again and it is over 100.00 more.
Glad I booked yesterday.

I booked the SUV two weeks ago and then changed my reservation last week saving myself over $30 more. My estimated total with tax is $158 for 7 days. The base rate on the SUV has been the same for at least 3 weeks now, and the only reason I saved more was because of coupons which I added.

For the last few weeks they've been having a special on certain categories. There are constantly different specials going on at different times. When I saw that rate, I didn't hesitate to book. With car rentals, you can always cancel at anytime without penalty, so there I never wait. If I find something better, I'll rebook and cancel the old.

I just checked my rate and it has gone up 150.00 :earseek: more! We booked a midsize SUV for 148.80 total and now the price is over 300.00 total.

One thing I did notice about Alamo is if you get the Prepayment discount that they're running you have a $10 charge if you cancel.

This is making me nervous,I booked the standard SUV last week and now it's double the price. But I have a confirmation number, so they have to honor my price right?? Hearing bad things about Alamo, I just want to have the car I wanted and at that price.

I've rented a car twice before, can you tell.

They will honor you quote as long as everything is correct. IE: correct code with the coupon.
Just take a copy with you. I have yet to have a problem with Alamo.

Yep, like disneyldwjr said, once you confirm, they have to honor your quote. That is another reason why it's always good to book it when you see a good rate and not wait. With car rentals, it's just so easy to cancel if you find something better.

You do incur a penalty if you use the pre-pay option, but we couldn't use that anyway because there will be two drivers on it and we used a coupon, so we have to actually check-in at the airport.

Then I should be good. I saw the rate on their website and called and they gave it to me. So I didn't use a coupon, they put the code 88w8 in not me, so thanks I feel better now.

I just can't believe how much it changes day to day. I guess it pays to keep checking.

And keep an eye out for various coupon codes. You just never know what you can save if you don't try.

Wow, the rates sure do change! I got a 7 day minivan for $199.78 just yesterday. Today its approx $299! OUCH! Wonder if it has to do with the hurricane, or with rentals of minivans selling out? We go in 3 weeks, so I'm very happy with our rate! We used all the codes with the ACG coupon on mousesavers.

It sure is good to check rates everywhere everyday. We had booked a mid size car through ez rentals and kept checking now we found an suv for just a little more through Alamo. I perfer Alamo since it is right at the airport and ez we would have to be shuttled to the rental place. Plus an suv will be much bigger than a mid size car. My husband says he may want to stick with the car because of gas prices. Do you think it's really going to be that much different? isnt the convinence of being right at the airport worth it? :confused3

And this week, my same ressie with same coupons is $397!!!! $200 more than my ressie. I cannot believe it!

I'm really surprised that car rentals are so high since so many people are use DME--less demand. And with the price of gas on the rise, I would think many people would decide not to rent a car especially the gas guzzlers like SUVs.

I have two car ressies right now. Can't decide between Alamo Intermediate SUV for $148 or National full size car for $169. With National both DH and I can drive and since we are National Club members, no waiting in lines. I thought both of those were kinda high.
