I made a reservation awhile back when the SUV's were dirt cheap, now I want to modify my reservation(take 1 day off 7 instaed of 8), and even with the same codes it wants to charge me almost 3x the amount of the original res. Is there a way to bypass this or will I have to just pay for the extra day we won't be using because it still works out to be soo much cheaper?

Did you pull up your existing reservation and then click modify reservation? I tried to do a new reservation when my flight times changed but I couldn't get the same codes to work for me again. Then I tried to modify my existing reservation instead . . . I didn't drop a day from mine but I recently went and dropped a couple of hours on the first/last day due to flight changes and it just knocked $50 off my reservation since I won't be using the "extra time and distance." I could see them charging more for "adding" a day but you would think the daily rate would be the same if you are "dropping" a day. Hope that works for you too.

With rental cars, you aren't making any commitment, so apparently neither are they. ;)

That may not work either, I've heard of people being charged penalties for returning a car early.

I called Dollar last week about making changes...the new reservation was double the original..The woman said leave the old reservation and if you need an extra day they will only charge the amount per/day rate. Call Alamo and ask. The Dollar lady advised me not to change it since the new rate was so high. I hope this helps...

Call Alamo, perhaps they can over-ride the current price. When I made my initial ressie for the mid-size SUV (cheap, cheap) I was not a Quick Silver member. After I got my quick silver number I couldn't modify the ressie to add it, and I could not book another ressie at the same price. I called and the rep made a new ressie at the oiginal price with my QS number. However, because the price was manually adjusted, I could not pull the new ressie up on the Alamo website. I sent their custeromer service an email, and they emailed a new confirmation to me.

They'll probably have to do the same thing to drop a day from your ressie.
