I've been checking for March 8 - 19 (11 days) for quite some time and prices have been pretty high. I'd say I check almost every day, and just noticed this morning that Alamo has lowered prices for mid-size SUV and full-size car. I was able to use a Sam's coupon for 11 days for a mid-size SUV for $265 total. Not as good as past trips, but definitely the best I've seen since I've been checking since last May - a full 10 months before the trip! The Sam's coupon also includes a free additional driver, and DH has an Alamo membership, and we definitely prefer a company that's at the terminal (like Alamo), so I think we're all set now. Of course, I'll continue to check up to the day before the trip - LOL! :lmao:

Hope this helps someone else here!

I did mid suv for $217 inc.taxes.
March 24 April 3 10 days.

Costco 675899 and AD1901NJK coupon from Alamo site.

Midsize would have been $202.

Finally, I was able to take advantage of someone's great rate help! :goodvibes Got a midsize car reserved for 8 days at the end of March for $152 all-inclusive. Woohoo!! Now I can cancel my $170 Thrifty reservation and my $215 Budget reservation. LOL

Used the Sam's code and the $25 off coupon I found at mousesavers.

Thanks again!

Switched to Alamo today as i noticed the downturn in fares. Was at $207 with National for Feb 28-Mar 6, Now at $156 with Alamo using Mastercard ID and free day coupon link from Mousesavers.

I just got my rates down with Alamo too! The $20 off weekly rental Alamo code and other codes mentioned on mousesavers previously weren't working for the end of March into April. They did today!

Thankyou!!!!

My rates dropped and I'm there into the week leading to easter 3/27- 4/3. I was checking a couple of weeks ago and they had over doubled. Now I got a Trailblazer or equiv..but have a free upgrade w/coupon from BJ's so should end up w/and Envoy for 240.00. 10.00 more than what it was going to cost me for a midsize (booked in sept)!! We had decided we would like a bigger car/mininvan/suv and after seeing the rates, decided to stay in the smaller car. But now w/the rates, we switched!! With me, my mom and DS #1 and DS #2 who will be 2 months old when we go down...the room will come in handy for all the stuff.

For our dates (3/28 to 4/6) -9days- I can't get Alamo's site to accept a darn code! Is it just me?! Waaa. Don't know what I'm doing wrong & feeling very rejected

Wow!! You are pretty much the same time as me, 1 day later getting there..and 2 more days, but you are paying 200.00 more than me, and we are getting a SUV..paying for a trailblazer size.

I'm wondering if it's just because of the dates and the holiday week. We are dropping off around 11am on the tuesday of the week leading to easter, so it isn't that bad, the 6th is the friday. Also, don't forget, you get charged based on pickup/drop off time, so maybe you ended up w/some extra days in there?? just a thought.

Is anyone seeing good rates for late April/early May????? I paid $170 last year for 10 days for a mid-size SUV, and I'm hoping to be near that this trip....

Boxer, I am with you! My dates are 4/22-4/30. Last year I paid $106 for mid-sized SUV for 1 week. This year Dollar with the KISS2 code is my best shot. I hope for a rate drop as the date approaches.

I found the same thing. I made a reservation with Budget using Costco discount and coupon a few months ago for next week. The best deal was ~$195 for a medium size car for a week including tax and after coupon. In fact, I only want a compact car but it is not qualified for the coupon and ends up more expensive. Now with the Costco discount (25%) plus the $25 coupon from above, I can get a compact car from Alamo for $158.
In addition, I have registered for the 5% bonus cash back from DiscoverCard. That applies to hotel and car rental (air tickets too if I have not already purchased it a couple months ago:confused3 ).

I got my rate down to $153 thanks to the tip that Alamo had lowered their rates. Saved over $40. That is for a mid-sized for 8 days, with the second driver free. Good rate compared to what I was seeing.

What code did u do to get that rate for 8 please?

When renting from Alamo, does the spouse get to drive free, or do you have to pay for an additional driver? Thanks.

You have to pay. That said if you use the correct code you get one free driver. Costco and Walmart come to mind.

Ok, I have a standard SUV for 10 days for $332.68 which includes an additional driver. Is that a good rate?
