we are going to disney in may for two weeks. looking at renting with alamo or dollar. alamo is $100 cheaper. is dollar worth the difference? it seems a lot of people do not like alamo here. usually use budget when we travel, but they are a lot more expensive this time.

thanks.

For me it is always about the price. Years ago Alamo used to be a nightmare when it was offsite, after one time of use I have always made sure to use on airport cars. Now they and National have the same parent company and are both on airport. I just booked Alamo for are July trip and there was almost a $90 difference. I would also join there loyalty program so you can avoid the line inside. Also on there website if you are not using coupons you can get an extra 15% off by prepaying. I haven't tried that yet so I don't know how accurate it is.

is there a difference between prepaying and online checking in for alamo? do they let you go out to the garage instead of the counter? we have budget fastbreak, and like being able to walk right over to the garage and pick up the keys.

I think that $100 is worth it when both are reliable companies. I have Alamo booked for both of my upcoming Hawaii rentals. I expect them to be just as nice as the other companies I have rented with.

Online checkin....no coupons can be used (but codes ok)
Prepaying...there is a fee to cancel

thank you. it sounds that alamo will be fine, and we will enjoy the savings!

 I booked Alamo online. I used Breezenet.com car rentals and my BJ's card. I got a minivan for $180 for 10 days complete with two drivers. It says I just walk over to the lot and pick up the van. whoo hoo

I have been using alamo exclusively for the past 4 trips to Disney I have taken. Alamo is fabulous. The cars are clean, reliable.. and AVAILABLE. There have never been a long line.. and I have been nothing but thrilled with their service and prices... and you cannot beat the convenience of the on airport service... it is really great! go with Alamo.. you won't be dissapointed.

I booked an intermediate car thur dollar for a base proce of 119.00 using promo code wn115. That's the cheapest I've found by far anywhere. Dollar is on terminal and has a free Express Lane program. This will be my first time using Dollar. I usually use Budget but could not beat this price.

how did you get to add on your BJ codes with the breezenet.com price?

I called the Alamo 800 number to confirm the Breesenet reservation. While on the phone I told the representative I also had BJ's membership and she added the discount in for me. Then she confirmed the new price and emailed me the confirmation. Once I got the confirmation, I joined Alamo's membership to prepay and instead of being charged an extra $8 a day to add my husband on as the extra driver, I was allowed to add him on for free! So I have the minivan for 10 days with 2 drivers for a grand total of $180. About the same cost as renting a double stroller in the parks for 10 days... :rotfl: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
