Alamo Midsize SUV - No Jeep please!

Hi,

From what I've read, Alamo tends to have a lot of Jeeps (Patriot, Liberty) in the Intermediate SUV class. I've checked up on reviews of these cars (they're not common in the England) and basically.... they look pretty poor! I'd be disappointed if I had to make do with one for our 2 week vacation :sad2:

If there are only Jeeps left in the Midsize SUV, what are my options? Are they likely to offer us a standard SUV or will it be "tough -- it's what you ordered"? :) If I were to choose to downgrade or "sideways"grade to an intermediate (non SUV) car what would my choices be?

I've had a look at prices of standard SUVs and they seem to have rocketed up recently.

Final question: I arrive at MCO on the evening of 28th March (evening before Good Friday) -- is it likely to be busy then?

Thanks people!

It will be busy when you arrive, many schools are off that week and the week after here.

I did not want a Jeep either, but had to take one in October (National). It was fine. I just need an SUV that is NON smoking, and has the clicker key to open and lock the the doors.

At least with Alamo and National, you can pick the vehicle you want.

All Enterprise, Alamo and National cars are NON smoking. Sadly, not everyone respects that rule.

Oh, I always looked for the non smoking sticker. Now I will just have to sniff more carefully. I have been stuck with smoking cars a couple of times lately. One was REALLY bad, I did not notice it at first because they doused it in the cleaner/air freshener. By the time I got to WDW, that wore off, and it was awful the rest of the trip.

Same here there where cigar ashes in the cubbies on the door. Didn't want to complain. It was a car accident rental (car totaled while parked) and big upgrade from what that would have given me to replace my 10 year old Caviler. I had it for 3 weeks and then they made be buy a replacement car.

Hi, thanks for the replies so far.

Let me try to clarify my original questions:
  • If the Intermediate SUV aisle contains vehicles of the same brand that I don't like, am I likely to be able to choose a vehicle from another class?
  • How does intermediate SUV relate to other classes? Are intermediate SUVs and intermediate cars equivalent, for example?

Thanks!

Answers: A. If you find you don't like any of the vehicles in the class you reserved, you have the option of upgrading to the next class. It will probably cost you money. You can always ask if there is anything else available in the class you rented. There are two sides to MCO for all rental cars. Often they can find something that will please you.
B. No, Intermediate SUV's and Intermediate cars are not the same. Usually the SUV is more expensive. Intermediate SUV's are Intermediate SUVs, they don't relate to anything else. Intermediate cars relate to Intermediate Cars.
If you take a peek at pricing, you will see a price difference between the two types of vehicles you used as examples. IE: midsize car rate for a late March rental --- 82.61 per day. Midsize SUV late March rental ---88.61 per day. If you upgraded your midsize SUV to a standard SUV, same rental period, the rate goes to 98.61 per day.
