Alamo is now the official Rental car agency of WDW

Mal,
There are quite a few discussion on this very issue and have been for about the past week.

sorry I missed them will have to look for them later.

Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

I saw my first commercial about Alamo being the "offical" agency while at the doctors office this morning. No thanks, not renting from Alamo.

I will never again rent from a car rental agency that is off site. Alamo is off site, unless with the acquisition of national, if this is true, they will now move onsite. Many Many years ago we rented but it was such a hassle to place your luggage on the bus, that is lifting up to the bus, then taking it down from the bus, then waiting in line, with one watching the kids who are anxious to get to the World. We had no major complaints on the cars, etc, but too much work to start a vacation. Has anyone heard if they will move to the on site National location??

I hear that Alamo Bought National.

They are "sister" companies, owned by the same corporation.
No one bought anyone.

Alamo is aiming at tourists and National is aiming at business.

Not sure about any location change.

National and Alamo are sharing counters in some Florida airports. I don't think this is the case with MCO yet as both MCO's and Alamo's website lists Alamo as still off airport. When the parent company started through reorganization this was one of its moves. The other rental car agencies brought suit in the State of Florida and lost. Car Rental counter space is bid on a five to 10 year basis, depending on the Airport Authority. Each agency makes an minimum annual guarantee to the Authority. In the past, Alamo has pretty much stayed out of the bidding process, but I wonder if this will change now in the case of MCO, or if we will see Alamo and National try to share counter space at MCO as well.

Here's a cute picture from their website: it says offical rental car ...can't read the rest...

Isn't National the only agency that you can return the cars at the Car Care Center at WDW? I wonder if we rent from Alamo, if we can return the cars at the Car Care Center??

I would expect that to change once this change is in place.

Poor location, no customer service, and lousy employee attitudes. Never, ever, never, never will I rent from Alamo again. Say no to Alamo unless you want to be ripped off........
