Alamo Insiders--extra driver

I went online today to confirm my reservation for this Friday and complete the "save time" information. When I added my DH as the extra driver, I was not given the option to add his Insiders # and there is a charge for the extra driver showing up on my reservation.

I know that I can take care of this when we get to MCO, but my question is: Can I do it at the kiosk? or Do I have to go to the counter? or can I do it with the agent at the exit gate?

Which will be the easiest and least time consuming?

TIA!

Cindy

This happened to me on one of my Alamo rentals. I tried using the kiosk but had the same problem so we dealt with it at the counter in the garage. (The lines at the counter in the terminal were very long so we took a chance that the lines would be shorter in the garage and they were).

You could probably do it with the agent at the exit gate but that holds up everyone behind you who just wants to get out of the garage and get on their way.

From what I read, the primary driver is the one that needs the insiders ID, not the additional driver. So if you add your husband's info online, I think you should be all set (assuming you also have the insider ID). Let us know how it goes...(I am adding my husband on to the reservation in Nov.)

When I've done this in the past their system added a $9.99 per day charge to the rental agreement. (I was adding myself to DH's rental. DH is an "insider" so we should have been able to add me for free.) I had to go to the counter to get myself added without the additional charge. This was a year or more ago and I was hoping they had fixed this! Let us know how it goes when you add your DH to your rental.

I am huge Alamo kiosk fan.

I never do save time or online checkin because I fear it will glitch a coupon or code. I love to use the kiosk. I've had trouble at kiosk in the past avoiding the charge coming up for spouse, and did exit to add the spouse as fre driver.

But this last trip, in August, kiosk worked perfectly, and let me add spouse free, easily. You still need to show licenses for all listed drivers at exit window. :thumbsup2

You cannot use online checkin if you are using a coupon, so, I am glad the kiosk works for you.

They have started to send people back inside the terminal for these services. The customer service agent in the garage is not for reservations issues. Sometimes if it is not busy, they will help. You are correct, adding a driver at the exit booth can be done, but, it does hold up the exit process for people who have actually waited in line in the terminal and would like to be on their way. IMHO, it is very inconsiderate of others.

Thanks for letting me know. Sounds like we just got lucky last time that the agents in the garage weren't busy. We'll take care of it in the terminal next time.

YOu will probably be able to use the kiosk. Even if it does show a charge for the extra driver, it should either zero out on the right hand side (with all the other charges) or the exit booth can remove it for you, IF you have made your reservations via the Insider's log in.

when I added him via the "save time"using the email link to modify the reservation.., what gmeh1 said is what my reservation looks like... (it does show ($9.99) right next to DH name, but the subtotal part on the right was $0.00. and the final cost did not change. I'll see how its goes when I get there....

Did a rental with Alamo in Chicago this past summer and had the same issue. I am the Alamo Insider, and when I tried filling out the forms online to 'save time'
as they encourage you to, the second driver fee was added on. I called their phone number for assistance, and that person told me that the 'computer just doesn't "get it", and adds the fee'. She told me to leave him off, and take care of it at the counter at the airport. Did so. No problem. Probably at the counter for less than 2 minutes.
Renting from Alamo this next WDW trip in Jan. I'll do the same-sign myself up, and take care of adding him at the counter.
