I was going through the list of Car Rental agencies in the Orlando Website looking for a Minivan rental in April from the Orlando Airport (MCO).
One very strange thing I noticed, is on the Alamo website, if I say I'm an American resident it gives me a normal rate, but as soon as I changed it to a Canadian resident and re-tried I got a much much lower rate.
I retried it a second time to confirm, still the same thing.. Is there some kind of hidden incentive for them to charge canadian residents a lower rate than americans?
I got $267.90 per week for a minivan, with $44.65 extra per day, so for 10 days it's $401.85 but I used the one-week e-coupon code that's on a link right on their home page, for an extra $20 off, so gives me $381.85 for 10 days total for a Minivan. Plus all the crappy taxes/surcharges it's $523.55 total. But that's still a huge discount off the quote they gave me if I was an american.
Oh forgot to mention that's including a $49.95 infant seat rental. So for others, it would have only been like $473 or so total.
Anyone else notice this? All of the other agencies gave me charges of around $600 to $809.28 for 10 days minivan with infant seat. Alamo's rate only became the lowest if/when I selected Canada as "Where do you Live?" question on the home page.
