Would anyone be so kind as to let me know the code for the Alamo double upgrade coupon from the Entertainment Book, for our Sept trip? If it works out to be cheaper than what we can get through Costco/BJs, I'll buy the book.

I just bought the Entertainment online for Orlando from Expedia. There is a double upgrade coupon for alamo there, so I used my Costco Id and the double upgrade coupon from Entertainment for Aug 25- Sep 6, got a standard size for $268!

I don't want to buy the book unless the rate is best for my dates. I'd like to "test" the rates. Last year we got the book and I didn't use anything from it.

The entertainment code is AU2649JDK, now i hope they will let me use the Costco ID as well, because it dropped the price by $6 compared to using just the Entertainment ID.

I got Alamo full size on hotwire for 179 for a week. It may be cheaper going that way. Most likely the cars you see on hotwire are Alamo since I have always gotten them through hotwire and MCO

There has not been any issue. Don't know if that has changed now, since they are being more strict. To be honest, in past years the prices have dropped the most much closer to the travel date, and most of the discounts (Costco, BJ's, Ent, etc) end up yielding the same total. I don't usually use an upgrade coupon because I think they are not guaranteed. If the best discount ends up being this Ent upgrade, though, I will definetly use it and consider the other coupons/discounts in the book as a bonus! Thanks for the heads up; off to check what rate I get.

I used Hotwire for our last trip and it worked great (Got Avis)! Would love to use it again, but unfortunately this trip we are flying into Orlando and flying home from Tampa. Hotwire doesn't do one way rentals - Yet (i keep checking!!)

I like the freedom to keep checking prices this early out, since we are not going till Sept.

How much was the online Entertainment book from Expedia? I looked at Expedia and couldn't find anything for entertainment book. Do you have a link?

So, have you ever heard of cases where double upgrade coupon wasn't honored? I didn't realize it wasn't guaranteed.

Thanks for replies.

We have two adults and two kids - four suitcases. We'll move a few times during the ten day trip. DH thinks we need a mini van or SUV. Can we get away with smaller? The prices jump so high with a van or SUV.

In using both Costco and Entertainment discounts, you should be prepared to document that you are a Costco and Entertainment member. There is a very good chance that you will not need to, however, the counter agent or the gate agent can see your reservation and could ask you to produce coupons and/or membership cards. If they do that and you don't have proof, they can charge you the going rate for the reservation, which won't be cheap. (Or, at least make a backup reservation that you can document)

I have my Costco membership card (always bring it with me, love shopping at other peoples costco!!). I also printed off my Expedia certificate as proof that I bought the Entertainment pack. I'm hoping that should be all they need??

Under Activities, way down at the bottom of the page "Entertainment® Orlando Premium Savings Pack". Its only $10 and the coupons/discounts you get from it are good for the date of your trip.

Found it. Thanks.

I personally haven't had an issue but there have been cases where the upgrade wasn't honored due to cars not being available. If you absolutely need a larger car, book it. If you can do with a smaller car but would like a bigger one, then use the coupon. All the upgrade coupons I've ever seen say "subject to vehicle availablility" in the fine print. So basically, if there's a lot of extra traffic that day (passengers who are renting that didn't have a prior reservation), they may not have a vehicle available to upgrade you.

On my Alamo reservation confirmation, it says that I have booked a "standard" size car. I only paid for "economy". I know with other car rental agencies they apply the coupon at time of pickup, so if they don't have the upgrade size you may not get it. However, with Avis we had an upgrade coupon but they didn't have the next car size up so they gave us one higher than that! And no extra money required!.

For what it's worth, Mousesavers has a few double upgrade coupons listed. They expire before your trip, but perhaps there will be more as your dates get closer? I ran our March reservation first by booking a midsize car with the $30 off a weekly rate (and my Sam's code) then again booking a compact with the double upgrade coupon. The double upgrade was about $10 more. (But, of course, we'd get a larger car.)

Good luck with your search!
