Alamo car return question

Hi,
I have been trying to lower my Alamo car rental rate for July 5-13 for quite some time. I noticed today that it was cheaper to pick up the car the day before. So I started playing with my pick up and drop off times. What will happen if I return my car 1 1/2 hours early?

Thanks,

Kim

From your dates, I expect you have at least an 8 day rental (cars are rented on a 24 hour day basis, with usually a 30 minute grace period-extra hours are at a premium).

If you altered your reservation and returned the car based on the new schedule, all would be fine. If you return early, you might not see a reduction in charges (a car in the garage isn't making money). Do be careful, though, as a change in reservation could change your basic rate.

I'm not as concerned about getting money back for returning early as I am getting charged more.

The grace period is 29 minutes in most places. The overtime clock starts ticking at 30 mins.

You should not have a problem returning the car 1.5 hours early.

In order to get the rate, I had to move pick up time to 1/2 earlier then needed and drop off 1 1/2 later then needed. I am so afraid Alamo won't honor my rate. I was hoping you would weigh in gmeh1.

Normally, that would not be a problem, but, I am hesitant to be 100% positive it won't change your rate. Can you give Customer service a call and double check?

Would I just call the 1-800 number on the web site or MCO location specifically?

Thanks so much for your help.

Maybe you can move it to an hour earlier than you need it coming in to MCO. Then just go down to the kiosk before you get your luggage and start the rental contract. I'd almost guarantee just about everyone shows up well after their anticipated start time.

The rental timer starts when you check out of the garage and stops when you return the car.

The woman I spoke to said it would be the $20+ higher rate. Or I can ask when I return the car, which scares me that it could be even higher.

I would not want to ask when I returned the car. For 20.00 I think I would go with the correct times of your rental.
