DH is getting a rental at MCO with 3 buddies with golf trip. He wants to have insurance just incase (godforbid) someone hits the vehicle so he isn't stuck with the damage rental car. I have spoken with our personal car insurance agent who states yes we have rental car coverage, however what isn't offered is coverage for "loss of use" that Alamo can charge because it doesn't have the car to rent. I emailed Alamo who replied:
If you add Collision Damage Waiver on at the counter, you will be covered for damage and loss of use to the vehicle. For more protection information please see the following link: https://alamo.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8166/kw/coverage.

So it sounds like their coverage includes loss of use factor but they state this has to be added on at the counter because they also replied:

"Some protection options can be added on page three (the extras page) of the booking; however, since the location does handle protections directly, most have to be added on at the counter at the time of arrival."

Has anyone added the insurance online so they can prepay and go right to the lot?

the option is there when you book online. If you select and at final page are offered kiosk checking, i'd assume you're good to go.

I never select it since my CCs cover the CDW. Have you checked the one you'll be using?

I did pull up my SWA Premium VISA info and yes it does say it will cover the "loss of use" thank you. One other question the VISA states to "decline the car rental coverage" does that mean he has to go to the counter and talk to an actual agent and say NO to the coverage? Just not including it online isn't good enough?

When you check-in online or at the kiosk you can "check" or "uncheck" the appropriate checkboxes.
I believe that when you check-in online, the insurance is already not included and you have to click the box next to the insurance to add it to the reservation.
Just leave the boxes "unchecked" and you will have "declined" the coverage.
No need to go to the counter
