I am looking at booking our car for Oct trip.

The rates seem to have gone up recently :sad2: and at the minute one of the better prices is through Netflights who say it will be Alamo.

We normally have Dollar and are Express members but wondered if anyone has experience of Alamo and do they have a similar system so we can get the car quicker?

We go 27th October for 17 nights and are looking for an intermediate SUV. Thanks :goodvibes

They have gone up. I have been hanging on to book August.
Best prices over past couple of years have been with Holiday Autos. Recieved an email from them a few days ago, gutted to read they are now part of Cartrawler. A few week ago I could have booked for around £450, now over £700(less 15% Quidco) Best price I can find is with Auto Europe who I used to use before Holiday Autos. Their price is £589 less 7% http://www.quidco.com/auto-europe/?ac Still around £100 more than I could have booked for:sad1:

I always use Alamo and can recommend them. No fuss. No hard sell. On line check in from the UK. You have to watch their prices though they fluctuate. I booked for next months ages and ages ago. Have seen it cheaper once so re booked but not been cheaper since. I do keep checking!

We have used Alamo with no problems, correct me if I am wrong, i though the online check in from the UK for ALAMO was only possible if you booked via VH? (Not entirely sure):confused3

Ok, thanks for the responses. Think I will go for it and try the on line check in - it's always a gamble waiting, just like booking flights when you check daily to try and get the best ones!

Just about all sorted once I've done this :thumbsup2

Well you've done it again Wayne. Although I have been searching (obviously not good enough) the link you gave me saves £13 off the best price so far and is with Dollar. Alamo is £5 more expensive on this site. Budget is even cheaper but I'd rather do with Dollar as it was effortless in December - just got in the car at the garage and drove away.

Thanks again, hope you get sorted soon :goodvibes

Used online check in and the electronic kiosks a couple of times using Holiday Autos, in the confirmation there was a link to Alamo, not sure about any other company but definitely not just VH's.

You sound like me, prefer not to use Budget (all 3 rentals not great) favourite Dollar, Alamo next in line. Although Hertz is really my favourite of them all they are usually very expensive, too expensive to use.
I am not searching to find my posts on Alamo but their hard sell has always been the worst part of their service for me(as welll as running out of cars one Xmas collection), the one at Tampa a couple if years ago was the worst. Dollar using express has been almost faultless. As always though its down to the agent you get on the day, they all have good & bad agents.

No, still not booked. just going to have to pay more than I planned.

Mrs doubtfire

We go similar time to you
30 oct - 12 nov.

I've been watching Alamo int SUV
Its been £288/289 since may.

Do I hold out till close the time ?

Ps I'm only interested in Alamo from DCar care or dolphin.

Hi Laszkowicz

I booked mine last night, I like to be sorted and I was happy with the price. The company Wayne gave a link to allows cancellation without any charge so if you saw it cheaper then you could always rebook like a pp has done already.

It could always be cheaper later on, but then it could be more expensive. Who knows :confused3

i want to get mine organised , i cant afford to risk it going up anymore !!

Most people use the Car care Centre, I know they do a free collection and drop of service at all the Disney hotels, not sure about Dolphin location. No idea what Disney office means.

More info on the Car care centre here, its near MK http://www.disneycarcare.co.uk/

Different prices are from different suppliers, Budget, Dollar, Alamo etc.

Cherokee is a Standard SUV see this list http://www.vroomvroomvroom.com/vehicles/alamo/

All UK suppliers are inclusive of insurance as far as I know.

they all have a little alamo logo at the left of the price??? argh i hate the car hire topic as a non driver over here i just havent got a clue and the oh works away and is not back until the night we leave !!!

could you please just have a look at my dates wed 28th august - thur 12th set we want to get the car from disney and drop off at mco airport , i need a car that fits 2 adult 3 small children plus a decent size boot :)
im sure alamo was one of the companys that worked out best value for our road trip auto tolls as you sent me a link to a list before and from what i remember there dailt fee was among the lowest

i want to get this car booked tonight it will be a huge weight off my mind

also the vroom link has the chevy tahoo as 5 seat but on the auto europe its says 7 seats is one a mistake or do they do this model in 2 sizes

Standard (Cherokee) 377.23 or with Gold 458.16
Full Size (Tahoe) 547.80 or Gold 631.57
All less 7% Quidco

You are correct, they are all alamo collecting at Car Care Centre, if you read them all it tells you why they are all different prices, some have GPS, some Gold etc.
Can't remember how much Alamo charge for tolls system but I believe they are one of the better ones.

Wiki answers say this but I have always had the 7 seat version when renting that size SUV,
Answer:
Some tahoe's seat 5 and some seat 7. you must buy one that has "3rd row seating" to seat 7
