Did I once read that a midsize and standard car from Alamo were the same? I can rent compact with a free upgrade to midsize or rent midsize and get a free upgrade to standard, but would save $14 if I do the compact to midsize. Hope that makes sense. Can anyone confirm???

No, midsize is midsize. They have standard size at MCO and they are parked with fullsize. If you get an upgrade from a midsize to a standard you will select from the full size row.
A compact with an upgrade will get you a midsize.

I have been reading the same deal for a car rental in early Dec. What is stated above is absolutely correct.

You are welcome. But, a standard and a full size are not essentially the same, they are just parked together. Big difference between an Impala and an Chrysler 200 for example.
