Alamo- can I go straight out to garage?

Hi! We will be renting a car at MCO for the first time in probably 4 or 5 years. I remember the last time we rented we were able to bypass the counter and head straight out to the garage to choose our car. On my emailed Alamo confirmation for this trip, it says to go to the counter in the airport to obtain my rental agreement and keys. Does anyone know why this would be? I am using an Amex corporate code and AA coupon code (not an actual coupon), and am an Insiders member, if any of that makes a difference.

That should make all the difference! Just exit the terminal building and walk across the little road and into the parking garage where you will get your car.

My understanding is that I you use a coupon code of any kind you can't go straight to the garage. You can still use the kiosk rather than waiting in line at the counter.

You can go straight to the garage they check everything at the exit and I've never had to give up a coupon ever

Maybe it is because of the AMEX code, they want to make sure you are using the AMEX card, which is required. If the confirmation says to go to the counter, please do, or try the kiosk. It is better to do that than be turned around at the exit, which can and does occur.
Of course you can call Alamo and ask why you need to go to the counter.
