Alamo at MCO? Questions?

Hi again,
I just want to add a little more to some of the posts:

We've always rented from Budget. The reason why we're not sticking with them this trip is the cost. They've gotten too expensive. I tried Hertz, but they're even more expensive.
Avis seemed on par with Budget.
Alamo seemed to have the lowest rates. If I get a car not well cleaned, then oh well, I guess.

As for the Free Additional Driver, I didn't know about it. I just checked my confirmation I printed out from Alamo and there it is: 1 Additional Driver - Included.
I used the Costco number and also their coupon, AD85 which was $20. off a weekly rental.
I know Budget made me present my Costco card in order to make sure I was a member.
I'm guessing Alamo might also. It told me I had to print out the coupon, so I did.

I realize that. So far my National experiences have been fine.

(Someone else posted about outsouced Customer Service, but that probably doesn't hit me too much, I can't recall the last time I actually called a rental car company! :rotfl: )

The fact that National has EA has allowed me to avoid thier customer service, If however, I start having issues I will be gone.

I MUCH perfer Hertz so that's who I generally go with. For a savings I will go with Dollar where I have had good service also. (Haven't used Buget or Avis at MCO)
It hits me not because I call them, but, because outsourcing to another country is NOT good for our country.

Inconsistency kills me

I recently became a quick silver member and they told me at MCO to go downstairs to the car rental counter. I was told they have a seperate line for quick silver and that you couldn't bypass the counter like you can their sister company Emerald at national. :confused3

Would love to get info from someone traveling soon. We go mid Sept.
The last time I used Alamo at MCO was two years ago, as a QS member I went to the garage and selected my car and went to the check out booth with my coupon, reservation print out, cc and license. I was checked out in a matter of minutes. You might want to call the Orlando Airport station, the number should be on your reservation, and ask what the procedure is now.

The won't ask for your costco card. The free extra driver is a perq with Costco and BJs. Might be with Sam's but, I am not sure.

In the 8 trips we've taken to WDW, no one has ever asked for our BJ's id. Also we just spent 1 nt. in Scranton, PA last weekend at a Courtyard by Marriott on a AAA rate and they never asked for my AAA card either. The car rate I mentioned was using the Costco discounts. I'm not a Costco member so I hope they don't ask!!
I forgot to mention before, we've used Budget and Dollar too at MCO and have gotten really dirty cars from them also. Our car was so dirty at Dollar, I had to use some baby wipes to get the stickiness off the steering wheel and door knob/pull. :p I would have sent it back but it was their last convertible.
One more thing, I found the answer on Alamo's website to my online check-in question. They list all of the Alamo sites where online checkin is available. Buffalo airport isn't 1 of them, which is why we couldn't in Niagara Falls. It also said if you're using a coupon, even an e-coupon, you can't check in online. :badpc: Oh well, for that price I guess I'll just wait in line. Sorry this is so long.

Last week we used alamo, *********** at the desk in the parking garage. No problem at all. Also, they did not ask for my bj's card.

Well I agree, but I think in the travel industry if you refuse to use a company that outsouces your options are VERY limited. Most of the major airlines and rental car companies do outsouce... not sure about hotel companies.'

However, IMHO airlines charge MORE for me to call so I rarely call and I can almost always get a better deal for a rental car on line....so either way I am not doing much to employ call offices.

I'm an xray tech in Philadelphia and I know when we call for service on our GE equipment, we are calling India. Really ticks me off but so many companies do this now I think it would be impossible to boycot every one of them.

Same experience with Dell... I literally had to ask them to repeat every single sentence. :rotfl2:

Actually Dell moved most of it's call center work back to the US.. Now no telling where your employee was.

I have noticed that even in my company a lot of our help desk employees have thick accents and I KNOW they are in Montvale NJ. Of course I speak East Tennessee so I am sure they get off the phone saying the same thing about me... :rotfl:

My husband just placed an order 2 weeks ago through Dell (it was an absolute nightmare). They told him they were in the Philipines.
When I called numerous times to try to fix a situation I either spoke to an individual with an american accent or very strong india accent!! That was when I kept saying..excuse me... please repeat... what?? :rotfl2:

Just to make sure it's clear - if you don't use a coupon, you don't have to check in at the counter. You can check-in online before you leave home, then just head directly to your car.

If you use a coupon, you need to check-in at the counter - I'd rather spend the $15.

I was just on alamo's site looking at requirements for checking in :teeth:
yep...you're right... no coupon, no line
There are other requirements though so you may want to double check online w/ alamo.

Several times, with res booked using either referencing QS # & EA#,

we were able to use a coupon w/o stopping @ terminal desk.

w/Nat.-handed it to gate person on way out.

w/Alamo-stopped @ garage desk...no biggie.

CC statement always reflects the coupon discount.
