Alamo and Insurance4carhire

Alison

It's great to know that you have used the policy without experiencing any problems with the hire co.

Can you confirm if the insurance4carhire policy offers exactly the same level of cover as a fully inclusive deal with the likes of uscarhire/airnet etc !!!

I have just priced up a convertible direct with Alamo using the walmart code [£183] which together with the insurance4carhire policy [£99] will save me over £100 compared to other quotes.

Hi Tyke :wave2:

The insurance4carhirehire covers everything except the airport taxes etc which should be included in your Alamo quote anyway.
Alamo's rental included a second driver and ins4carhire insure for a second driver too.

The guy on the desk asked me whether I wanted to take out full cover but I showed him my cover note, he read it through, and grudgingly said it was fine

Guess he lost out on commission selling on Alamo's insurance but yes, it did save over £100 on other quotes I got.
The only way I could have got a comparable price was with Budget - the price was more or less the same, included insurance etc but was a much smaller car.

We've used the car hire and ins4carhire policy twice now (once with Alamo and once with Dollar).
No problems either time.

Just be aware, if they try to sell you a full tank of petrol for you to bring the car back empty.
The cost per gallon will probably be the same as that at the petrol stations but we found that they charged us $60 to fill up a car that would only hold $30............ :lmao:
For me it was worth not having the worry of finding a petrol station whilst I got to grips with the driving again but......... ;)

Good luck :sunny:

I agree with the tank of petrol thing it is a bit of a rip off, but personally I dont want to be searching for a gas station a few miles from the airport to make sure the tank is full - If they find they can put more gas in apprently they then charge a massive fee they have got you over a barrel really!

Just thought Id update this thread, I used the insurance4carhire with no porbs at all. Alamo were very pushy at the desk and said that I would not be convered for loss of revenue if I crashed the car. But I stood my ground !

Glad things turned out well Gavvy :thumbsup2

Hope you had a great holiday :sunny:
