Hi Guys,

Was just messing around with the car rental rates and I found a really good one for Costco members. We had initially rented with Enterprise and got a good rate of $237. This was without any coupons for the dates of August 10-16, 2009. I checked with Alamo under Costco. Costco has a special now where you get 10 percent off and a free day with a compact. The base rate was also quite a bit lower.

So our rate is now $127.42 before taxes and fees and $178.46 after. I am Canadian so that might affect the rates.

Post or PM if you have any questions.

Be sure to compare rates thru Costco with National as well. Even though Alamo and National are the same company/ownership, their rates are often quite different.

Also check rates for picking up at the WDW Car Care Center or Dolphin resort. We are going to take the free Disney Magical Express to WDW and pick up our National/Alamo rental car at the Dolphin resort which saves us $120 vs. picking up at MCO. We are going to return the car to MCO.

I always check the Costco rates. Even though I am not a member, I can go to their website and go through the reservation process. I am even able to print the coupon. Now if I was asked at checkin to produce a card, I would have a problem.

I have found that their rates are always identical to those of Entertainment. Since we have an Entertainment book we always end up using those contract IDs/coupon codes. You can actually do the same thing with the Entertainment coupon that I indicated is possible with Costco.

The COSTCO rate includes one extra driver, I'm not sure about the Entertainment book rate.

Alamo in PHX not only asked to see my COSTCO membership card but also swiped the card to capture my membership number.

I don't understand the purpose of making a reservation using a discount program you're not eligible for. You can generally get the same, or similar, rates with a program you're eligible to use.

Alas Entertainment does not offer a free extra driver.

In addition to the Costco code you can use the walmart code that anyone should qualify for if you need the extra driver. The rate is generally the same.

If you are using Costco here is a great way to compare rates:

They have a booking engine with the Costco discounts already entered so you can easily compare all company rates at once.

This has been our experience. The Wal-Mart, Costco, and Entertainment rates are always the same. The only problem with Entertainment is no extra driver. Have been able to use the Wal-Mart code and an Entertainment coupon though, so it worked out better.

So far, the Costco rates have been the best we've been able to find. We're using 25% off and 1 free day with pick up/drop off at the car care center. From this board, I saw how the rates can drop with a WDW pick up. Our base rate went from about $532 to $391 for 13 days. While it's still high, it's within the set budget.

My DH is just thrilled that ME will be dealing with the luggage and we won't have to see it until we get to our resort!

Where do you find rental codes on the Walmart.com site? I can't seem to find it.

They are actually available at Mousesavers. I don't know how they confirmed that they are truely Walmart customer codes. Perhaps these are just some more "suspect" codes that are really meant for their traveling employees.
