Alamo aisles... full size cars?

Would you mind sharing your code? I am have a crazy hard time finding anything under $300 for May. I thought at Alamo they give you the keys to a specific car but it doesn't sound like it??? Minivan would be our preference as we have 2 children as well.

Thanks!

Have you tried Budget? I just checked May 5 - 12 for example and using x474200 (travelocity code) and E-Coupon MUGZ029 for $30 off the total is $272.84 inc taxes after coupon is applied when return minivan.

I will try that. Thank you so much. I should mention that $300 was without taxes and fees.

We are going April 20 checking in 8:30pm and returning 9:00am April 30. (out of Tampa) TPA

The prices are out of this world but I just can't imagine renting with someone other than Alamo or National.

Any advice for codes or something. The prices ARE killing me.

Also we are a party of 8 so we hoped for an 8 passenger minivan but can't even get that to come up on the screen as a choice. We will probably need 2 cars instead. (We love to ride together/its half the fun)

Any suggestions? :goodvibes Thanks!

From what I'm understanding, can I rent a standard car from Alamo at orlando airport (MCO), spend about $50 less than if I rent a fullsize car, and then I actually pick out of the full size aisle anyway??? I'm confused, but hopeful! I made a reservation for full-size, but now thinking I should cancel and rebook the same reservation for a standard instead, if I'm just going to choose from the same cars anyway. It would be great to save a little money!

Also can anyone explain how the self-service kiosk's work? Thank you so much- I'm a real beginner in this!

There is no Standard row at Alamo/mco, so, you select from the Full size row.
Hope this clears your confusion. :)

At the kiosk, you enter your reservation number and follow the prompts for additional information. Really quite easy. ORRR, if you are not using a coupon, you can check in online.

You might be a touch early for an April reservation. Mousesavers.com has good codes and you can join the Insider's program at Alamo, it is free and they have some nice rates, you save 10% right off the bat and they throw promotions and notify you by email.

We arrived at about 11 pm last night. We had a full size reservation with Alamo. There were about 10 or so cars on the full size aisle to choose from, and they were mostly Crown Victorias. I asked the attendant if we could look at the National cars in the hopes of finding a minivan, and he told me to just go ahead and take any minivan that Alamo had. So, we ended up with a nice Toyota Sienna, and only paid $138 for 10 days!

Crown Vics and the big Mercury are Premium cars, must have been a busy day to have them on the full size row.

I am confused, if you had a full size reserved, why were you looking for a mini van?

We picked up 2 cars on Saturday the 7th. My brother got there first around noon and snagged a really nice Buick LaCrosse. He said there were SUV's and Impalas as well. When we got there closer to 6 there were a bazillion Impalas. We took a Maxima. Attendants were parking multiple cars on the aisle as we were choosing.

Nice, you got a Premium car. :) Sat. was a busy day.

It is a touch early to be looking for bargains for May. Alamo and National allow you to select your own car from the appropriate rows. IE: full size, go to the full size row and select the car of your choice.
If you want a minivan, when you reserve, make sure you reserve a mini van. Most of the full size cars accomodate 5 passengers, so, keep that in mind, you might not need a mini van.
Keep looking at mousesavers.com for codes. Join the Alamo Insiders program.

Thanks so much for all this help! I'm thinking maybe you work there, so you are a great person to be asking!! :goodvibes This morning I canceled my $203 reservation, and changed it to a $161 reservation. So I've reserved a standard, instead of a fullsize. Everything else is exactly the same- pickup at MCO on 2/1, drop off at Disney 2/10. I have one coupon code it accepted, and Alamo Insiderers discount. I thought this was a pretty good rate. Now do I really still get to pick from the fullsize row at the airport? That just seems too good to be true! How come they are so nice!

Now my next question- we also are registered on the Magical Express. Our flight gets in at 2:27. I put 2:30 on our reservation- should I change that to 3:00? And the kids and I are going to take the ME, while my husband drives the rental car. Will we have time to find the car together, and then the kids and I go to the buses? I don't want to be stranded at the airport, but I also would like to help pick out our car... Sorry for all these questions!

Oh- one more too! We just have a debit card, which I see they accept. But just my name is on it- not his. He is the person who will be driving so we rented in his name. He is also on our account, but just not listed on the debit card. Any idea the best way to handle this? :)

Yes, a standard car reservation will get you a full size car at national/Alamo at MCO for the standard car rate. I have done it many times. :drive:

See if you can get your husband a debit card in his name. Check with your bank, often they can issue one right at the branch, many banks do this. The renter's name and method of payment have to match. We have no way of knowing if he is on the account or not.
Don't worry about changing the time, the reservation is held for 24 hours.
You will need to bring proof of round trip travel with you. The print out from the airline is fine.
I cannot answer the ME question, sorry.
Let me know if you have any further questions. :)

Hi again! Yep- I have a couple! :-) I will check with my bank on Monday- I'm not sure if one week is enough time or not. If not, does Alamo charge for a 2nd driver? I thought maybe I could use my name on the reservation, since our card has my name on it, but then after we check in he could then be the driver, right? Is the printout from Disney with my flight listed good enough, or will I get a different one from the airline when we actually check in for our flight?

OH- saved another $20 today on our reservation- that is so cool!

We don't charge for spouses at MCO. Yes, you can use your name on the reservation and add him as a second driver, but, you will have to be with him at the exit booth if you cannot get a debit card in his name.
The printout from Disney will be ok if it includes the flight number, the airline and the date of departure from Orlando.
Excellent on the 20.00 savings.
Tonight was quite a crazy night. They had mini vans in the midsize and full size rows. Gotta tell you, there were some VERY happy customers tonight. :)

So just to clarify. If I rent a standard/full-size car from Alamo and there is a mini-van on the full size aisle I can take that at no extra charge?

Just don't want to end up with a big surprise on my credit card.

We were fine with a full size with 2 adults and 3 kids (we had very little luggage), but since we knew vans showed up on occasion, we thought there was no harm in asking.

Very true, no harm in asking.

Just flew in to MCO tonight and I had a great rate on Alamo for a full size car. We are here for 8 days and I'm paying $96 all in. I grabbed the only Charger in the fullside aisle at Alamo. There were lots and lots of Impalas. No mini vans.

I haven't rented from anyone other than National for years but I couldn't get the National rate down to less than $120 for this trip. So, I stuck with Alamo. So far the only thing I noticed is that the car has 33,000 miles on it. I can't remember ever getting a car with that many miles at MCO before.

When you rented from National before, did you use the Emerald Aisle?
