Alamo aisles... full size cars?

Just got back...When we arrived last week, it was almost 1 am and the guy at the Alamo desk tried to persuade me to upgrade to a mini-van or SUV for an additional $10 a day. I almost did, but then told him that I was really trying to watch my budget. I had a mid-size for $125 for the week. When we got to the cars and asked where the mid-size cars were, we were told, that there were none and we could have our pick of any mini-van or SUV for NO additional cost.

Sure am glad I did not take the desk clerk up on his offer!!

a Durango is not a full size. It is a SUV. I don't know of any full size car with a trunk large enough for a scooter.

The durango was on the executive aisle at National. I know its a large suv, not a full size, we were just lucky enough to get it. We are executive aisle members with National so I never worry about what we are going to get because there is always something decent.
The scooter breaks down to 3 pieces and can actually fit in a midsize. It all depends on the size of the trunk. Just hoping, just like everyone else, that there is something in Alamo's full size aisle that works for us.:wizard:

Oh, ok, now it makes sense. On the full size side, the Impala has a very large trunk. 18.6 cubic feet.

Good to know about the Impala's trunk size. Just hoping the full size aisle has some variety to pick from. We usually arrive late at night and this time we are arriving around noon. Can't wait!!!!:lmao:

It would be on either one of the Emerald Aisles. Those cars are for Emerald members only. As to how the exit booth agents can tell, I am not telling. :)

so you get all loaded up in one ... get the booth and then what?

I really don't know. The renters I encounter follow the rules and select from the aisles they are supposed to select from. One hopes you do the same.

Good luck, I am off tomorrow, but, I have heard it is going to busy with returns and rentals. Let me know what you end up with. Good luck!!:)

We were just there nov 10-15 we picked at dodge charger there was also impalas and 2 minivans. Linda:)

We recently went and there was a pretty wide variety. There was a Crown Vic, Dodge Charger (leather interior), Chrysler 200, a few mini vans, Impalas, and a host of cars that we didn't consider, since they were not American made brands.

We ended up with the 200. It was a fine car but really rather smelly :-(. this was around 3:00 pm.

Just a FYI, Toyotas, Kia's, Hondas and Mazda's (to name a few) are made in the USA. Where as not all "American" cars are made in the USA. My Honda was made in the US, but, my neighbor's Chevy was made in Mexico another Chevy was made in Canada.

I can't wait to see what we get when we go next month! Of course we don't arrive until 10:30 at night so I'm sure it will be quite picked over.

We are a 24/7/365 operation, cars are constantly being cycyled. I feel confident you will find something you like. :)

We always arrive later at night (after 11pm) and have really good luck with Alamo. We almost always get a mini van or SUV on the full size row. We've rented Alamo Standard size (Full size really) 4 times in the past year and had 2 mini vans, a Ford Escape and an Altima (but we could have picked a minivan that trip). A few times we have gone up and there are no cars in our row so we are usually then sent over to the vans or suv rows.

We arrived at about 11 pm last night. We had a full size reservation with Alamo. There were about 10 or so cars on the full size aisle to choose from, and they were mostly Crown Victorias. I asked the attendant if we could look at the National cars in the hopes of finding a minivan, and he told me to just go ahead and take any minivan that Alamo had. So, we ended up with a nice Toyota Sienna, and only paid $138 for 10 days!

We picked up 2 cars on Saturday the 7th. My brother got there first around noon and snagged a really nice Buick LaCrosse. He said there were SUV's and Impalas as well. When we got there closer to 6 there were a bazillion Impalas. We took a Maxima. Attendants were parking multiple cars on the aisle as we were choosing.

Would you mind sharing your code? I am have a crazy hard time finding anything under $300 for May. I thought at Alamo they give you the keys to a specific car but it doesn't sound like it??? Minivan would be our preference as we have 2 children as well.

Thanks!
