gmeh1, gotta question for you. I know you used to work for Alamo. In order for the additional driver to be free, do they have to have the same address on their driver licenses? I have a strange situation, in that I am still married and my husband and I are best friends and vacation together alot. However, we seperated 5 or 6 years ago and he lives at our old house, while I bought a new house about 45 minutes away. We are still legally married and spend alot of time at each others houses, but our driver licenses have our respective addresses on them and we just happen to own two houses now. I know we have a really strange relationship, but for some reason it works.:rotfl2: We get along alot better living in seperate houses. We'll be renting a midsize car from Alamo when we are down there in two weeks. I booked using my alamo Insider, Costco ID, and Visa coupon. My insurance agent is aware of our situation and I have him on my car insurance, but just want to make sure him driving the rental car won't be problem, if we happen to get into a wreck (we both have clean driving records though, so not expecting a problem).

I know I'm being picky but board guidelines ask us not to make specific requests to specific posters...other than in a PM. So....I am changing your thread title to be less poster specific. Thanks for not beating me up!!!

Ooops, sorry.

No problem!!! Just trying to be consistent with other boards here on the DIS. This board usually doesn't need much moderation but I do like us to be the same as the other boards. Hopefully she will be along to answer your question.

No, that is not correct. This is the official policy for Alamo. I think you are confusing the policies for National with the policies for Alamo.

Additional Driver Fee / Alamo

Is there always an additional driver daily fee? How much is it?

Any additional driver (including a spouse or domestic partner) will pay a daily fee of approximately $10 per day.

Fees are waived for additional drivers who are:

· Members of Alamo Insiders Program; which allows for one additional driver to be added at no cost.

· Corporate Contracts in the United States are allowed the following additional drivers at no charge:

· Commercial (corporate) rentals

· The renter's business partner

· Employer or fellow associate, who has a signed corporate contract with Alamo and drives the car for business purposes and who meet normal renter requirements.

All other additional authorized driver situations are subject to a daily charge.

An additional driver may only be added to the contract at a rental location and may be added or removed in the middle of the contract. When adding an additional driver in the middle of the contract both the renter and the additional driver must be present at the location.

The system will calculate the charges based on the dates the additional driver was listed on the rental.

.

Sorry, still confused. So as long as I booked with my Alamo Insiders, he is covered? or do I need to sign him up as an Alamo Insider too? The car is booked in my name.

He is covered under your Insider's membership. As it stated, Insider's are entitled to one additional driver at no charge. It does not matter if that driver is your spouse or a native of Timbuktu as long as they are properly licensed that driver is covered.
