Found a great rate with Alamo thru Costco which allows an additional driver at no charge.
However, I am arriving in the AM and would like to pick up the car at that time. Wife arrives at midnight. I was planning on picking her up or having her use the hotel shuttle. I want her listed as a 2nd driver. Alamo website says that both must be present at time of car pickup and show ID's. Is my only choice to wait until she arrives and rent the car after midnight?

this is one of those questions...where...guess what...you should ask the vendor. Yourself, directly. I would suggest possibly calling both Alamo in Orlando directly and Alamo's toll-free....

sometimes, it just pays to go to those who actually make the rules...

<pssst...in most cases they make you go to some counter, somewhere, it does not necessarily have to be the one you rented at, and make the arrangements whenever so-called second driver is available -- still -- you need to ask THEM -- things may have changed since me and Bobbie Jo Sue did it>.

Possibly but I find that first hand experience trumps what an agent says over the phone every time!! Haven't had much luck on the phone myself!

They will need to verify both Drivers Licences.
I have gone to the counter or kiosk to pick up the vehicle in the past and left my wife to grab the luggage from the belt (I then just bring the vehicle around to pick her and the luggage up at the terminal).
No one has ever questioned me having my wife's licence with me when I checked us in, even though she was not with me at the time (waiting for the luggage)
So you could try taking her licence with you when you fly in. Also Alamo has online checkin available at many airports now so you could fill in all info online before you even leave. I only remember the gate attendant scanning my paperwork and my licence on aour last rental using Alamo (that we had used the online checkin for)
Unless this will be her ID for the flight, then I guess you could be stuck making a trip back to the counter when you go to pick her up from the airport later that evening.

Or she needs to drive to the airport? Seriously I am not sure taking your wifes DL when you are leaving hours before her makes sense. Let's just be a gentleman, go back to the airport to get her and drop by Alamo and get her added then.

Or she happens to need it at the TSA checkpoint....

Sorry I was still thinking Canadian. By that I mean that when we fly in from Canada, we always have to have a passport (international flight).
Even when we fly down from Grand Forks or Minneapolis we still use our passports since we have them with us from crossing the border into the USA (even though we could technically just use our drivers licence because it is then just a domestic flight)
We don't think of our drivers licences as ID for flights like you would (living in the US and taking a domestic flight to WDW)
