Alamo additional driver ALERT

Just wanted all to be aware Alamo is no longer including the free additional driver. What makes me so mad is I booked my reservation months ago and my original confirmation printout states "additional driver included". For some reason I went on today and it wasn't there. When I called I finally got to a Supervisor who said the 2006 Entertainment book no longer includes the additional drive so they removed it. I left put the reservation in my name figuring my husband and I could share driving. Now I want it in his name but when I went to modify they added $31 to my reservation. AAAHHHH! I haven't changed it as of yet.

I was going to post something similar to this - when we picked up our car from Alamo on Jan.8 (my reservation stated it included 1 additional driver and I also called to confirm this before we left), the man at the counter said even though it says it on our reservation, it is still not a guarantee that there is an additional driver included. He said about half the time there still is a charge for an additional driver. He said luckly ours did include it (he had to look it up even though I had it in writing) - but this still made me upset and made no sense to me. So I asked "how can you have a reservation stating in writing that there is an additional driver included, and then not honor it?" - he replied that the reservations are made from a central database and the free additional driver does not necessarily apply to the pick up location you are getting the car from. He also said it's the same thing if you call to make a reservation - that they are in Georgia and don't know the Orlando area policies on additional drivers. Nowhere does it tell you this on your reservation. How they get away with it is beyond me.
Still makes no sense to me and I will no longer rent with Alamo.

My next question is do you think it will be a hassle once we get there to put the reservation in my husbands name? Supervisor said I could do this on the phone but she didn't sound too sure of herself.

Sorry, dumb question here...

I always do the driving (no kidding, I do), and we're renting with Alamo in October.
Will they still charge the additional driver fee, as a normal thing now (at MCO)?

And to follow up on the above quesion, if I may...
I understand the Entertainment Book coupon doesn't include the additional driver. If I'm the only driver, is it automatic that the additional driver charge will be applied at pick up?

Thanks,
Mark

I just looked at my ressie for our June trip and it still shows the 1 additional driver included. I don't see how they can get away with this. I don't care where the ressie dept is, thay can't sell you some thing online and then change it at the last minute. Does it say anywhere on the resservation that this is not guaranteed or that it can change without notice?

I rented with Alamo last October. I called my insurance company to see if I was covered through them. I didn't want to buy Alamo's. They told me my husband and I are both covered for any car we drive anywhere as long as we have one car in our policy with full coverage.

So, I don't worry about additional driver, maybe this will work for others.

Luvdisney,

I agree. My confirmation says one additional driver free and that is what I expect. If Alamo has problems with their reservation system, that is their problem not mine.
