Alamo 3-Day Hopper Plus - Requires Finger Scan at Gate?

Hi.

My mother recently bought two of the Alamo 3-day park hopper plus passes. Mom said Disney told her on the phone that whoever uses the pass first is the only one who can ever use it. That it's ID'd with them. Has Disney started doing bio scans (or whatever it's called) for hoppers?

Out of curiousity I called Disney and asked about this and they said new hopper passes would have some kind of finger scan done when you first use the pass. Anyone been to the parks recently and used a new hopper pass and had to provide a finger scan?

I've got a bunch of old hopper passes and I have no idea which kid in my family used which pass last. I'm the keeper of the passes and we just keep them in a pile. My husband says if it's gonna get complicated, we'll just buy one-day passes from now on and be done with it.

Disney currently has the capability built into its ATS ticketing system to record finger scans on all of its admission media. The main reason that they don't do it now is that it would drastically slow down the processing of people through the park gates during the busy times. The lines of people waiting to get in would be huge several times every day.

It's always possible Disney could start requiring an initial finger scan on passes but it is highly unlikely in the near future. But as with all things Disney, never say never. ;)

More than likely, the CM who told your mother that whoever uses the pass first is the only one who can ever use it did some adlibbed embellishing. She is correct in that the tickets are non-transferrable which means that they can only be used by the same person but there's nothing new there.

In any event, don't sweat any old tickets you have at home. Disney cannot make changes to their terms of usage retroactively.

the finger scans are what they use for the florida resident passes. My sister always has to use her fingerprint.

They are also used for Annual Passes. It is not a fingerprint, it is a bio scan of your fingers.

If they fingerscanned every pass, there would be a very long wait! We had 5 AP's with the finger scan, and every time 2 or 3 of the passes would not work with the scan. We had to show our license some of the times,,and some times they just put us through. The cm told us that if it didn't work properly the first time you used the pass, it will never work properly. And the very impatient people behind you who think you don't know how to put your finger in properly.

We used the 5 day military passes, which were like Length of Stay, in that they were hoppers that included Disney Quest and Water Parks but they had an expiration date. These passes required a finger scan, but it was a pain when they would not scan, especially during Extra Magic Hour as our passes would not scan so they sent us to the Customer Relation desk and with the line and the issuing of a new pass that would scan, it took 20 minutes of our hour.
One other time they just waved us through when the finger scan didnt work and it did not take a day off of our passes, which sounds like a bonus, but was not, since FastPass would not work for that ticket, and we needed to re-enter the park later. This required us to have to visit Town Hall and wait in line to get this corrected.
We were really grateful to have the passes at such a great price but I could definitely see where widespread use could cause an issue, especially with the additional time added to check bags already added to finger scanning.

Now you have me worried! My aunt and uncle passed two passes from their trip in June.with a day left over to my husband and I. They were originally 5day, 4+ PHP's. I bought them at the Disney store for them, but they actually used them. So..if they had to scan their finger, what will we do? I don't have the receipt, I gave it to her with the tickets!

When did the DS sell 5 day 4 plus tickets?

Not the disney store here in the mall.. online when they offered the 4+ options for a limited time. I linked to if off one of the UK websites. It's called the Disney Online Ticket Store or something like that. I'll link it for you:

It is actually called, well.. it doesn't have a name I guess. It has great prices though! And fast shipping! Or you can pick the tickets up in Kissimmee if you don't want to have them sent through the mail. You can buy clearance items from the disney store through them too.. You know.. I didn't realize until we bought the tickets for ourselves for this trip coming up that we could buy them here in Memphis, too. Last year we got them as part of a package, and didn't get them til we checked in, on our room key.

Thanks for the info. We did purchase a 5 day 4+ for DD from Ticketmania and the service was great also. The link you provided is for Maple Leaf, very reputable.
