In the 90's Disneyland had a restaurant called Aladdin's Oasis that was based on Aladdin that combined a restaurant and a show based on Aladdin and featured meet and greets with Aladdin and Jasmine. Though the restaurant closed the outdoor dining area was transformed into a theater with a stage where an Aladdin play was featured and younger kids could act out the role of Jafar. When I first heard about this restaurant I had always wanted to see the show and eat there but my parents and I never got the chance to try it. Who remembers Aladdin's Oasis?

I ate there a couple times. It was great. We enjoyed the show very much and my daughter (who was very young at the time) loved talking to Aladdin and Jasmine after the show. My favorite part was the dessert that came out when the show ended. It was a chocolate magic lamp filled with mousse. It was pretty to look at and also very good to eat. We really missed it when they closed it. We still checked for a few years hoping it would reopen.

I have fond memories of this! Went once as a young teenager with my parents and it was really special. That dessert really was something else- gorgeous and yummy! I seem to remember some sort of raspberry sauce with it. That show/meal felt like the first really special “extra” thing I ever did at Disneyland. Now there are (or were) lots of those extras, but not so much back then.

I thought it was great. we went once, I think it was the lunch show. I seem to think that I had the chicken with wild rice. I could definitely go for another chocolate lamp desert.

I think it was also the first time we paid for an extra experience at Disneyland.

How much was lunch and dinner at Aladdin's Oasis and what did the menu consist of? Was it Indian food or did they have food like pasta as well? That's so cool that you got to eat there Gary. You know I wish Disneyland had a restaurant like Aladdin's Oasis but The Princess And The Frog themed where they could have a menu of New Orleans cuisine and while you eat you can see a show starring Princess Tiana and her friends. Wouldn't that be awesome?

I remember Aladdin's Oasis, and enjoyed the food there, but don't remember what we did eat. I'll have to go through my pictures. I also remember that they kind of extended the show into Adventureland with Indiana Jones running across the tops of the bazaar. It didn't last that long, but it was cool while it did.

Yes, we ate at Aladdin's Oasis back then. I agree that the food was very special, particularly the dessert. I even got picked to participate in the show. They took 3 of us down into the "Cave of Wonders" and dressed us up and told us what to do. The first 2 guys I think just danced along with a couple of the girls in the show. Well, I was the third one and they really set me up. The hung some large "appendages" over my shoulders with tassels on the ... Then they had me dancing with 2 of the girls and I got the tassels to counter-rotate on my chest. It was hilarious! If any of you saw the shows back at that time you know the costume I'm referring to. My brother took a video of it and I think I still have it somewhere.

That's so cool you got to be picked to be in the Aladdin's Oasis show John. I bet it was fun to watch. That Chocolate Lamp dessert sounds delicious because I love chocolate and this dessert would've tasted great

I came to post about the chocolate lamp dessert, but I see I am not alone in my fondness for that. It definitely had a raspberry sauce.

We only ate there once (we were a “Disneyland once a year” family when I was growing up), but we also ate at the Tahitian Terrace that used to be in the same spot, and my dad got picked for their show and danced in front. Good times.

We loved Aladdin's Oasis. Thanks for bringing back the memories--love the pictures of the old menus. Every time my kids tease me about taking pictures at a restaurant I'm going to think of this post. You never know when those pics will trigger fond memories in the future :)

We didn't make much money back then and this dinner show was the first time we did such a splurge. (We usually packed food into the parks to save money)

The show was fun. The food was good (but we were used to eating pbj sandwiches, so maybe my perspective was off.) The chocolate lamps with raspberry sauce for dessert were amazing. I'm so glad we got in on this special event.

I don't recall exactly how much it was, but I think it was in the $25-$35 range.

I hadn't thought about it in these terms before but I guess Aladdin's Oasis was the Tahitian Terrace re-themed.
