Aladdin's Oasis On the Go?!?

So it was standing only. Is that what you are saying?
Basically yes...there is one spot that maybe you could sit but you would have to be looking through a fence rail so it would be somewhat obstructed. This area is right behind & above the VIP reserved area with chairs. Basically kids would have to stand to see & it's set back away from the curb because the VIP guests are sitting below you & up front to the curb of the street. I'm assuming VIP guests would sit in the chairs the whole time but I guess they could stand if they wanted to?!? I didn't feel it was a good spot for my 6 kids to see from. The rest of the area is set back from the curb & while elevated it is definately standing only & people could stand in front of you. :(

We have a trip in about a month, and got reservations for Aladdin's Oasis on the go. The last few posts in this thread make me wonder if we want it now that they have changed the reserved area. Has anyone been in the last few days that knows if there is curb seating in the reserved section again, or if they are using the newer "trial" configuration described here?:confused3

I'm hoping to hear more feedback too. Our reservation is end of March. I may cancel if it doesn't seem better by then

Yep, this is what I saw on Saturday night.

We did this dining package yesterday, and I wanted to report back regarding our experience.

We made our reservations just a couple of days before our trip. We wanted to do the package for lunch, and get passes for the first (8:30) parade. The CM told me that reservations between noon and 4:55pm , adould get passes to the first parade. However, the earliest reservation time available was 2:15pm. The CM suggested that we could check at the restaurant to see if they could accommodate us before our reservation time, so that's what we did.

When we arrived at the restaurant at about 12:15pm, there was no line at all. I explained that our reservation wasn't until 2:15, and the CM said it was no problem at all for us to dine early. The patio itself was practically empty -- maybe 4 tables were taken. I believe a lot of this had to do with the fact that it had been raining on and off all morning, and it was also pretty chilly outside. We received our food within 5 minutes of sitting down at the table. The food was fine (adults had chicken, my son had mac & cheese), but if you are a big eater, I don't think you'd find it too satisfying. The portions were definitely small.

The CM at Aladdin's Oasis suggested that we go to the viewing area at 8:00pm. Since the park was really crowded due to the holiday weekend, we decided to venture over at 7:10 to see how things were looking. We spoke with the CM who was standing near the IASW stroller area (the strollers had not been completely moved off of the parade path yet), and asked where the viewing area was for our package. She pointed to the white chairs in the reserved VIP area, and said that was for Aladdin's Oasis. She suggested we come back at 7:30, as there was no line yet.

Where do I begin with how very wrong her information was? Seriously, how is it possible that someone working in that area could be so misinformed? I can understand it when you call to make reservations over the phone, but when the CM is standing right there? Anyway, I told her that I thought the chairs were for a different package, and wondered if she might be able to ask someone else where our viewing area was going to be. She asked the CM who was a couple of feet away, and she pointed to the elevated patio area (as others have recently reported) behind the white chairs. I then asked what the line in front of the white chairs was for, and guess what? Yup, it was people already waiting for the Aladdin package. So if I had listened to the first CM, I would have left and come back 20 minutes later to a much longer line.

With our arriving an hour and 20 minutes before the parade, we were about 7 parties back in the line. While in line, I discussed the viewing area situation with a CM. She said that it had previously been different, but converting the area to standing only allowed them to accommodate more guests. I admit I was a little annoyed that we had paid for the viewing area, but people who did not pay were the ones who got to have the curb/sitting areas on the ground in front of us.

Once we entered the area, we were able to get a spot up against the railing/fence, next to a planter. DS(8) sat on the edge of the planter, and the rest of us stood against the rail. The area filled in as it go closer to parade time, but I did not find it to be over-crowded.

I have to say that we actually liked our viewing area. Sure, it's a bit of a bummer to have to stand...but I decided that sitting on the ground is not comfortable anyway. I am amazed that people did that for 4 hours (or more). Chairs would have been awesome, but our standing area above the ground-sitters was 2nd best I think. We really had a great view...even my son thought it was ideal.

So that's my two cents :-)

Saturday we got to IASW at 8:15 (for the 8:30 parade) and found a spot for the 3 of us about 5 people back. We were directly across the parade route from the Aladdin's spots.

By the way, I got goosebumps when the music came one for the parade! :)

I'm not paying extra to stand in line then stand to see the parade. Sitting is not easy either because my knee doesn't bend well but it's better than standing for 2 hours.

Thanks for reporting back! Do you (or anyone else know what time they are opening up the reserved area? Can you sit down until the parade starts? We have a party of 11 and we're planning on a few of the adults sitting with blankets and holding spaces for our group which includes 5 little ones. If the kids have to stand and wait 1.5 hours I don't know if this is a good fit for us. Thanks!

Yikes. The Viewing area isn't too promising it seems. Right now, we're booked for the first show this coming Sunday, but I wonder if I should change it for Monday maybe...would the crows be any less? My son won't stand for that long...

hmmm based on this most recent info I'm considering cancelling our reservation. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see if they change the viewing area back to how it was before. If they don't we'll just cancel. I'd rather put in the time to have a curb front seat then be so far back and standing.

We're booked for 3/10. Hmm. We did it last June, and it was great, but it doesn't sound so great any more...

I guess everyone has their own perspective. I did not in any way feel "so far back". We were elevated above the curb-sitters, so we had an unobstructed view. Could we reach out and touch the floats? Nope. Were we "far back"? No way! We thought our view was great -- elevated above the sitters, and really close to the floats. But again, everyone's opinion is different.

They didn't let us into the area until 7:30, maybe even a few minutes after. You certainly could spread out blankets at that point (and then just stand once the parade starts). The area didn't feel crowded until around 8:15. Also, we were there in the middle of a holiday weekend. I'm guessing you could arrive later on a "normal" day.

There is no way I'd ever wait 4 hours to see a 20 minute parade (or any show, for that matter). 4 hours on the cold, hard ground? Ugh. So for us, this package was a no-brainer. But if you MUST be sitting on the curb, then it's not for you.

Agree with PP. Thank you for the additional details!

We have reservations for our April trip... And now I'm rethinking it. We are WDW people and have seen the parade a few times.

We have also seen it at WDW. While it would be nice, we are not people who camp out for hours. Sitting for an hour might be ok but not standing. If we can't find a place to sit an hour or so before we'll skip it. Thought the AO package might work, but not if we still have to stand around for hours.

Anyone been recently?
And where exactly is Aladdin's? I can't find it on the app.

From what I read its just to the left of Jungle Cruise. I have a reservation for AO on the 24th, but we may end up cancelling it depending on how tired my mom is. She thinks she can handle a 16 hour park day and she has NO idea how tired she's going to be after a few hours lol

We were just there Friday. It was fine. The food was acceptable - I had the lasagna. The little cheesecake dessert is tasty. I wasn't thrilled with the viewing area for the parade, but considering we only waited half an hour, it was fine. As you're walking into Adventureland, it's on your left.

How was the viewing area? Does it include the curb or us it still behind the chairs?
