Aladdin Show Question

We were seated toward the back on the lower level and we could still see fine. I, however, had to stand in the way back with a fussy 9mo old, and still thought the show was great! Can't wait to go again in May and sit down and enjoy.

Is it easy to find your way to the balcony seats? I've never seen the show before and I don't know the setup of the theater, but I'd love to get upstairs with a good seat. Knowing me I'd go the wrong direction.

There are stairs that you take and follow the crowd or ask a CM. There is an elevator on the inside.

i was referring to the old days apparently. I am making up for lost time, lol.

Unless they've changed how the lines work, when you get in line you choose either Orchestra, Mezzanine or Balcony level. Balcony is open based on crowd levels.

I agree with other posters, the front row seats on the Orchestra level aren't as good as other seats in the house. The show uses the aisles and other areas of the theatre, so my choices of seats are either the front row of the Mezzanine level, or the front row of the back Orchestra section.

It's a great show and you will enjoy it.

Are there different lines for the different areas? And if so, are there signs up so you know which line you're getting in?

yes, there are different lines and they are marked at the entrance. If you have priority seating, then you are in a different line and I think that all goes into Orchestra. I'm always in the VIP seating line with a friend of mine, and that seats first, so I am not positive how the Priority Seating line works.

Thanks! I don't have priority seating (just a local girl with no vacation package perks) but I want to sit up in the balcony area and wasn't sure how obvious it is to see which line I should get in.

LavenderPeach, just ask the CM's where to wait, they will direct you. Normally if you're wanting to sit on the first floor you just get into line. If you want Mez you are asked to wait off to the side and they generally let you into the actual "line" area a bit later. They like to try to fill up the bottom first.

Thanks Pixie! Now I just need to make it over there to see it! DH and I are trying to figure out a time to go without DS since I don't think he would sit through a show.

.....Are there any "tricks" to getting a good seat "upstairs" (balcony)?

How early would you typically get in line?

TIA :goodvibes

S.S. Columbia, the "tricks" or the process that i've used to get front row center "upstairs" on our last two visits was:

- Ask the CM where the balcony line is when you arrive. (We arrived 10-15 min. before showtime.)
- It's typically much shorter than the downstairs line.
- Prior to opening the doors, a CM leads the folks in line up the outdoor stairs (everyone staying in line).
- Upon entering the theatre, EVERYONE hangs a right & starts (like lemmings or wildebeasts) down the first stairway.
- We would circle left around the herd & walk down to the second (or third) stairway.....& then down to the first row.
- We would already be seated by the time the herd starts realizing that the center of the theatre is NOT down the first stairway... & then begins moving down the rows to where we are already sitting.

The tip? When encountering a "herd" always pass on the left. :thumbsup2

;)

I can't make up my mind on where to sit. I'd like to get some photos from up front if I can (have to document everything I can on this trip), but I'd love to have a seat on the balcony as well. Eeep. Tough choices, I don't think I'll have enough time to see it twice.

My favorite location, and where I've seen it 8 out of 9 times is down front. We usually sit on the right side, facing the stage. I love being up front. The only disadvantage is that you can't see the flying carpet as well (if it's flying). One thing that is really cool about being up front is that when the part of the procession comes in the camels go right by you. My DD reaches out to touch them and it always brings a tear to my eye ( I know I'm a big softy!) I'm not sure if they still do as we haven't seen the show in a few years, but hope to again soon. I think it's great!

Oh course, sitting up high you do get a great perspective. I was able to take some great pix a few years back sitting on the 2nd (or 3rd level) front row. I was able to rest my camera on the rail to keep it steady.

If you sit on the 1st level, on the left side this snake will be right in front of you-can scare small kids

You're welcome, and you might be surprised about DS, he might really like it!

I still stay sit up top, you can so much better and if you follow Hound's rules you'll get a spot to sit right in the middle, you'll be able to see everything looking over the railing. :) I really want to see this next trip. :) We tend to alternate our shows and I want to do Aladdin next weekend. :)

thanks for posting the pictures! They are great and give a DCA newbie (like me) perspective. Can't wait!

Wow, thanks for posting the pictures too!! It's great to have a visual sense of reference. I don't think there would be a problem then if we sat on a higher level.

Yeah, I've thought about taking DS but I think I want to see it first so I can really enjoy it and not have to worry about him then maybe we could try taking him sometime.

I was going to say "and some adults too!" but when I editted it I must have deleted it. :confused3 It is pretty scary.:scared1: The few times we've sat on that side I've let people around me (esp. with real little ones) that the snake can be very scary. Some have decided to move.

When we saw the show we were on the far left side, back row of the orchestra. One of the CMs who was wearing a horse of some sort costume had her "horse" grab my little one around the head with it's mouth. He LOVED it!

So, there are perks, such as possible interaction with the actors, if you are on an aisle on the bottom floor.
