In a message to the cast Al Weiss has hinted at impressive new attractions in the works for the next few years. Sounds like they are getting ready for a big announcement to me.

Could that have something to do with the announcement we've heard is supposed to be made on May 5th?

Any guesses?

I am betting that the MK is going to get a new Lagoon attraction. I was figuring on the Osbourne Lights, but that has already been announced.

Everyone else has something BIG in the works. Stitch and Philharmagic are great, but not of the caliber of EE, Soarin', and the new stunt show at the Studios.

Disney is in Damage Control mode, and when they do that they spend BIG money. This smells like more green. That's ok with me, because we benefit.

I thought i just read recently that they are just going to landscape this over?

I'll just pray over a pixie that it isn't more simulators.;)

Show, I love this type of rumor. It keeps the hope high and allows the imagination to wander around as to what we'd each like to personally see. As for me, I want Indy & a new show at The Studios, and that Brother Bear Water Flume ride in Epcot (Canada)that we discussed on another thread.

There was a time when what Disney actual built produced this effect. Now I guess we must be happy to pay big bucks for mini-parks and simply imagine all the fun that Beastly Kingdom should have been.

Pipe dreams don't sell tickets. Hype instead of substance doesn't generate repeat business. Brand loyalty does not replace met expectations.

It's rather funny Pirate, er, Captain that you constantly harangue those of us asking Disney to live up to it's reputation – specifically when we criticize attractions like 'Mission: Space' for following far short of their potential. You say we're not allowed to criticize the company for something they didn't do.

Now we see that we're supposed to feel all warm and fuzzy dreaming of what the company won't do either.

Funny how that works.

I doubt it since they got rid of their only horror show, Alien Encounter. ;)

So where is the big announcement? They had the meetings and so far the silence is deafening. One would think that they'd want to release good news quickly.

I resisted the urge to get into the other thread and point out that a Brother Bear attraction has no place in World Showcase, but darn it PeterCaptain, you're making it difficult.

What do I want?

Keeping in mind that just as a lack of big new attractions wasn't Disney's only problem, and therefore also aren't the complete solution...

I want something we haven't thought of. Something we haven't thought of because people far more talented than us have been given the resources to utilize their talents. I DON'T want another clone. I want another reason to make a point of visiting both resorts more frequently.

I want something as great as Indy, but not just a copy of Indy.

the big announcement on May 5th is for Disneyland's 50th anniversary celebration that will encompass Disney world wide.
If that's what it is, I doubt it would contain any big new attractions, since the 50th is only aobut 14 1/2 months away. Its also not much of a secret, since we heard this was going to be the case well over a year ago.

Hopefully, at least some of the scaled back plans have been restored.

I agree with TheDScoop (back at last). Stupid, Stupid public.:p
It also may have been meant as Al saying "I went to WDI and even though 1/3 of the imagineers have been laid off there are still a few impressive ideas still floating around."

"Stupid public?"

I see you've adopted the Eisner/Weiss business model. It's worked so well in animation, retail, broadcast television, regional entertainment, cable...I'm sure it's going to work just as well for the parks.

As for selling tickets, even DCA gets a crowd when the place is free. Wonder what the average rate is for all those hotel rooms at WDW they're "selling".

Isn't spin fun?
