Al Capone died from syphilis?!

When i took the Alcatraz tour, they also mentioned he was a crybaby! He use to cry all the time!

He was actually hated by many inmates and attacked at least twice, this according to the records Alcatraz kept. He originally was sent to a regular security style prison in Atlanta GA, but was caught running his business out of that facility, so they moved him to Alcatraz.

I once took a tour in Chicago that showed his old haunts and famous places where his thugs murdered people. It was back in the early 90's and while a lot of that period of history has been tore down, there's some of it still exists. If you ever get a chance to do it, I recommend it. Very fascinating, IMO.

I learned today that I take the NFL / Patriots waaaaay too seriously :( I actually dressed all in black before I realized why :headache:

I didn't learn anything new today. Well except what you guys taught me on this tread.

Did you know that it was not Mrs. O'Leary's cow that started the chicago fire. It was some drunk guy who tried to blame it on the cow.

It was proven by.... get this. A title examiner.

I believe chicago even passed an ordinance forgiving the cow or the family for any penalties.

Today I learned that the actor who played Jed Clampett was supposed to be the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz but he was allergic to the silver paint.

I knew that! I didn't know that Capone died of syphillis though.

I can't find her name right now (she's deceased), but one of the female actresses who was in the Ten Commandments had her career ruined when the make-up for the film really scarred her face.

Wizard of OZ was one of the most injury plagued movies ever. I think everyone was allergic to the metal flake in the tin man paint.

No kidding? I grew up just outside Chicago and never thought twice that it was Mrs. O'Leary's cow. Good stuff!

Speaking of the Wizard of Oz, I once read that Shirley Temple was to play Dorothy but I believe it was Fox who had her under contract, and refused to allow her to go to the other studio to make the film.

Yep, Al Capone died not quite as notoriously as he lived:rotfl: Kind of weird, yes? You'd think he would have gone down in a blaze of firing guns:confused3
