AKV yikes

:) I imagine your DIL is worried about you not liking it. My MIL is going back again with us to her own SV studio this Dec. She is not the warm tone person I am, but she loved the resort and had a fantastic time. My home decor is very similar in tone to AKV so DH and I love it there. When I look at the bright decor at some of the ther resorts I cringe......So I guess I am a WL, AKV, and VGC (all designed by the same man) kinda girl. I think you will appreciate it instantly...it truly feels like you are removed from Disney when you are in the room.....but yet it is just a bus ride away.

It is the closest I will ever come to seeing Africa. :cloud9:

We recently stayed at AKV Kidani Village. Once you are there you will adapt very easily to the setting. And if you want water the pool area is fantasic - you will not even know where you are. Great activities for kids too. One night we were there they had a movie showing at the pool at night and it was fun.

Please tell me you booked a SAV view room? because if you did, you'll be out on the balcony the entire time looking for the animals and you won't care at all what the bedspread looks like!

;)

Btw, if you are in Kidani, request to be in Rafiki, down by the pool. The views are MUCH better!

I own at both Resorts. Love them both, my family does also. The decor is just wonderful to me. We love to watch the animals while getting ready for the parks. Enjoy!:goodvibes

Yes, we are at kidani, a one bedroom and a two bedroom (grand villas were booked).
Can you park by your room like at OKW?
Thanks,
Susan:confused3

Not quite, but most of the parking is under the building (not underground, though). You can park under the area where your room is and there are several elevators so you can go straight up to the floor near your room without lots of walking. Not quite as easy as the condo-style resorts, but not bad.

I stayed in AKV (before it was renamed Jambo House) in February 2008, and we had an unexpectedly bad impression. I guess because we all got sick and was cooped up in the room most of the week, and the days were so short at the time still, the dark decor was downright depressing! Now, I did buy AKV sight unseen because I love the theming, but I think I will restrict myself to staying at AKV during the summer months, when it is brighter. I can imagine the dark decor will actually have a cooling effect in the heat of summer, and the rooms will not seem so dark. Summer will also be great because of the great kids pool, as well as the covered parking.

For all the other times of the year, I think I will stay with my other love, Bay Lake Tower! You can't beat walking to MK, taking the monorail to the other resorts for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. As for BCV, I have never stayed there, but I can imagine it is a great place during the summer simply because of the pool!
