AKV--Value Room's

Can you book a value room now at AKV or will those only be available when Kidani opens? :confused3
The Value villas are in Jambo House only. (They are the result of converting the smaller hotel rooms on the 5th floor of AKL into DVC villas.) They are scheduled to open Dec 1st. Booking for those rooms began some time in June if I remember correctly.

I've already booked a value studio, but the stay is after December, it's early May.

I agree - I believe the "value rooms" are only at Jambo house. I have a "value 1-bdrm" villa for the first week in January and cannot wiat! I am only a bit concerned as it does not sound like there are many to begin with, and I have a chance of getting a parking lot view - I will be EXTREMELY disappointed if that is the case. I would sort of think that DVC members would get the best options and not be "stuck" with a parking lot view. (Yes, that is the attitude of a hopeful guest who wants the Savannah view!!!)

We've been paying guests with a room in the area of the value rooms that are parking views. It's not pretty! Oh well...they really are bargains point wise, and if the view is that important for the particular trip, then I book savannah.

We have value rooms booked for December and June, but also a concierge room booked for June as well.

I think the Values will be a very popular booking category with members, likely to be fully booked at all times with DVC members staying in those rooms. Therefore, some DVC members staying in a Value villa are going to get a parking lot view. Fortunately not all of the parking lot view rooms on the 5th floor will be part of DVC so there are far fewer of them than we thought there might be (about 20% of the Value villas).

If you really will be EXTREMELY disappointed if you get a parking lot view, then why not book a Standard View instead? It's not many more points and you would eliminate the risk since in Jambo House, the Standard View rooms face the pool area. (Just to be clear, that's only true in Jambo House. In Kidani Village, the Standard View rooms will have a view of a pool, garden or parking lot.)

On the other hand if conserving points is the most important thing (more important than booking the view you really want), then you need to be prepared for the fact that 20% of those who book a Value villa will be looking at the parking lot.

My wife and I have been having this conversation lately. Do we really need to own at AKV. I don't think we will ever stay in a value room for an extended period of time. We have two studios booked for may just because we are sleeping there and going on the repo cruise the next morning. We might sell one or two of our 50point contracts if/when Contemp comes aval.

I would definitely take the Standard room view, but unfortunately on this trip, we were fairly stuck with the dates of travel and the Value was all that was left. I am definitely calling in to MS to see if I can request as I did not know that at the time of booking. Any other suggestions I can keep in my back pocket will be appreciated!!!
Thanks to all,
KC
