I'm a few weeks behind on posting this AKV trip report but better late than never
I will keep it short and let the pictures provide the details. We stayed Aug 12-18th in a 1BR SV, room 5415. The room was on Zebra trail, a fair distance from the lobby to the elevators, and then backtracking once on the 5th floor. The halls are long but open up to window views of the pool or savannah at various intervals. The halls were always quiet, regardless of the time of day.
As expected, the weather was hot and humid and we stuck to indoor attractions as much as possible. We did a few mid-day jaunts to the AKV/AKL pool to cool off. However, with no part of the pool deeper than 4 feet the water temperatures were in the mid-80s so it was more like a warm bath than a refreshing swim. The kids loved the little water slide.
The buses to/from AKV/AKL were fantastic. We never waited more than 20 minutes in either direction and never a full bus. There were several occasions when we were the only ones on the bus. One of the best bus transportation experiences of any stay we have ever had.
The parks were crowded. Most of the major attractions had 45-90 minute stand-by waits depending on the time of day. FastPass was a must for just about anything major. There were several rides down for various reasons in Epcot. We were in line for Test Track for 45 minutes when they had to shut it down because something had fallen on the track. We got our little piece of the Million Dreams pie when the family was picked to control the boat launches on Its a Small World. It wasn't much but the kids loved it, got their pictures taken, a little certificate and a chance to wave at everyone as they passed under the control booth.
There was no construction noise whatsoever. Neither in the building or on the grounds. They had security posted near the construction entrance so I couldn't get a usable shot of the construction from the parking area. I didn't think to try from within the resort until we were already on the way back.
The room was fantastic. The washer/dryer was a must this time of year as we often would go through a couple changes of clothes each day. Having the sleeper chair was also nice as our 4 year old fit perfectly on it and our 8 year old had the pull-out sofa all to herself. The view from the large balcony was perfect, close to the center of the lodge but off to the side enough not to have any obstructed views.
Ok, enough talking, now for the pics. Most are of the room features with a few of the savanna. I have many more of the animals and can post those if requested. The last 5 are of the construction at CR to help stoke the rumors a little more
