We will be staying with our family of 6 at AKV this november. Even though we are trying club level for the first time, we like to have some groceries in our room. We are thinking we will not have a rental car.

In the case of no car, what do you do for groceries? Has anyone pre-ordered from Disney? If yes, how costly is this route? Is there another grocer that delivers or do you just buy stuff in Lobby or Mara? Thinking just milk, bread, peanut butter, lunch meat, water and some fruit?

Thank you!

We have almost always had a rental car but have pre-ordered from Disney. Usually when we do that we only order what we need for the first night and next morning, because we cannot get to Publix until our second day. Disney prices are high on everything (e.g., a half gallon of milk often costs more a than what you would pay for a gallon in a store) and not something I would suggest using for the entire stay. You also have a $10 delivery charge regardless of what you purchase.

There are companies that deliver groceries such as GardenGrocer.com., which others on these boards have mentioned using, but I have not used them and cannot speak to their quality and prices.

We Go Shop is another option. There are order forms (with current prices) on the Member Website (under Plan Vacations > Pre-Arrival Checklist > Order Groceries) if you want to pre-order from the resort store.

All delivery companies including Disney will have fees, markups, and tips. If it's only a few items Disney or the store would be your best source.

We saw Garden Grocer delivery a few times during our stay at AKV, so they looked popular (we didn't order groceries since it was just DH and I for 3 nights).

If you pre-order from the resort store using the order from on the member website, they will deliver your items to your room (even if you aren't present). If you ordered any cold/frozen items, those will be placed in the fridge and/or freezer as appropriate.

The 3rd party delivery services may or may not require you to be present when they deliver. If they don't require you to be present, they will leave the items with bell services. Bell services has the ability to store cold & frozen items.

We just shop in the resort store for our few items like milk, eggs, bread. You can have the delivery and they add on a $10 charge I believe.

If we are staying a decent amount of time we use Garden Grocer. If e only need 2 or 3 things we buy in the resort shop.
