Talked to my guide today, and we discussed the June UY for AKV. I mentioned that we usually travel the first week in May, and he felt that June would not be a good UY month for us, and he offered me at least four others. I know that October and December were two of them, so there is some flexibility regarding UY's if that is important to someone.

Does anyone have any opinions on my user month?

If I accept June as my UY, I will get the 160 SSR pts for this year and 160 AKV pts that will be banked until May '09 when the new building is completed. Then that June '09 will be another 160 pts for a total of 320. Even with our usual travel in May, and the problems if we had to cancel, I have to admit that getting 320 pts right off the bat kind of appeals to me. As opposed to having them spread out in October or December.....

Or am I just fooling myself a little...... Please share.

Welcome Home. We bought 200 points at AKV in Feb. and our use year id December 1.

My guide told me I would get 160 bonus points & 160 regular points now and if my UY is say...Aug, I would get another 160 points in Aug and then again in Aug 2009. Does this sound right? This seems like a lot of points to get in the first year. Do you typically get points when you close and again on your UY date even if it's in the same year?

Your bonus points are that, but yes, if you were to buy, even if I were to add on now and if I had an August UY, I would get the '07 points now, and '08 points in August '08.

If you buy now with an 08UY, you get the points for 2007 and then would get the points for 2008 on August 1st of this year.

So you don't want a UY in Feb, March, April (for example) because you would have just 'missed' the 07 points and just get your 08 points and have to wait almost an entire year for a new deposit.

There would need to be Jambo points available in your use year to get 2007 points. Some of the use years are sold out at Jambo.
