I'm wondering if anyone has any sense (or any contacts that might know) how well AKV is selling? There seem to be a few hard core AKV fans on these boards, but I also read a lot about CRV hold-outs.

Just curious!:goodvibes

Better than expertations from wath I hear.

I'm sure sales are going well. Keep in mind sales are only open to existing DVC members.

Let's face it, for as popular as Disney World is and since they keep such high standards my dog could sell DVC. I'm sure sales are going great.

You always have to take such projections with a grain of salt. Most of this type of info comes from the guides who have a vested interest in what the public believes on this subject. That's why SSR sales have been hyped (over stated at times) over the past couple of years. But judging from the interest on this board, I'd say it will likely exceed early expectations. To me the real test is now how long it takes to finish selling SSR and what special incentives come along if any. Although DVC does have a hx of stating a resort is sold out when it actually wasn't, with VWL and HH.

One note as to statistics. Generally when a percentage sold is stated, it's based on declared units and not total ultimate capacity at the resort in question.

My guide called today (Sunday) and said they were several days behind on paperwork and they were all a bit overwhelmed with the interest in AKV.

Did an add-on on Saturday(VB, not AKV) and I was told to expect the FedEx box on Wed.or Thursday.

According to my guide, they have had overwhelming response and it was alot more than they had expected... so it must be pretty strong. I think that so many people loved AKL and now they are seeing that this is coming about so they want to be able to enjoy vacations there for years to come... :)

Well there is always the issue of pent up demand. So when something just comes out it will start out at a very high rate, and then it will tail down.

People like my wife and I we talked about SSR, even went over to SSR and looked around talked to our guide.

It came down to me saying lets do SSR or AKV. Here are pros and cons for each, but lets just do one.

We/she decided to hold out for AKV.

I'm sure the iPhone will have incredable sales the first few weeks like a video game system before the holidays.

I know originally I had no interest or intention of purchasing at AKV, and then I read a little more and then heard about the point requirements, later expiration and then the concierge rooms...bottom line, we added 110 points at AKV instead of the planned 50 at SSR.

That sounds like Dean's "grain of salt" plus a pound and a half!!!

LOL, it's always this way when a new resort starts selling but to be honest, I think AKV is having at least as much interest on this Board as did BCV when it opened, maybe more. I am on record as predicting a fast sale overall for this resort. It wouldn't surprise me if they sold out the initial phase to members only before even offering to the public. I think this for a combination of reasons including the later expiration, AKL following, plus the unique unit options including concierge, 5/9 sleeping capacity and the value rooms.

We have not gotten any promotional material from DVC about AKV, and if I wasn't reading alot of forums, I would not be aware that I could purchase an add on now. Several of our DVC member friends had no idea about the AKV at all, never mind that we could buy in right now. If sales are good now, can you imagine if every DVC member knew of this offering?

I also haven't gotten anything about AKV. My guide seemed surprised about that but if it can happen to you and me...how many more didn't get anything either?

I've not received anything either.

I wouldn't believe anything a guide tod me about sales. What are the supposed to say? Sales stink? They touted these great sales with SSR and it is still selling 3 1/2 years later. I expect that resort to sell into 2008 at least.

Time will tell but I think we'll see a hot start and then a fizzle. DVC needs to expand the offerings off site or the saturation point will be reached soon enough. Add ons can only sell so much. I'd like to know the interest of new owners because to be honest I'd never buy more than a small DVC contract if I had it to do over.

Well the real question is how long did Disney plan on selling into SSR? They had to have some projections. I could easily see SSR being projected to sell for 5-8 years.

Normally the sales guys have quotas or targets to make bonuses. They could be way ahead of sales targets, but still have enough points to sell.

Just curious, but what do you consider a small contract?

I think there may be a lull in sales when/if they run out of points in the first phase in the main Lodge since the second phase isn't slated to open until 2009. How does DVC handle point offerings in between phases? If you purchase points for a future phase, can you still use those points to book stays at the completed phase or do you have to wait to book until your particular phase opens?

Later Expiration?! Where can I find more details on that & AKV overall? I've looked on the DVC site, & read thru some of greenban's thread here. I didn't see the expiration year mentioned.

We haven't gotten anything yet either.

I'd say a small contract would be anything under 150 points. That would give me a nice trip every two years.

I expected DVC to expand off site and they haven't done that. I think they realized they couldn't compete with the big boys and decided to play only on their turf.
