so I will be booking my AKV trip in september soon and I was wondering what is value accomodation? what is the view of the parking lot? pool? is it worth the upgrade to another view? btw, it's a studio I will be booking

The Value rooms are smaller than the other booking categories (Standard View, Savanna View, Concierge). The rooms are the same width but are about 3 feet shorter than the non-Value rooms in Jambo House. They are located along the two trails that run along the front of the Lodge building so the possible views are: Sunset Savanna, pool or parking lot.

Also, value rooms sleep fewer people. Studios aren't affected (all sleep 4), but I just wanted to point out the difference. 1BR values sleep 4, but 1BR other categories sleep 5. 2BR values sleep 8, 2BR others sleep 9.

If you have never stayed on the savannah before, it is absolutely worth the extra points. Those savannah rooms make it the most unique hotel I have ever been in. Amazing.

If you want to book value for next September, you should consider doing that immediately. There are a small number of value rooms and that combined with the low point cost can lead to those being booked early in the 11 month window.

As far as what is preferrable, it is a matter of choice. However, I am one of those owners who is probably like the majority there who bought specifically to get savanna view and pay the points for it. Many have said it does not matter and they are fine with non-savanna view. You may be one of those but I am definitely not and would feel seriously deprived without savanna view. Also, I have seen the value cost rooms and they are way too small for me. Not sure where you might have stayed in years past but the value room studio is about the size of a Port Orleans room but with bigger furniture making it difficult to even move around in the room.

well I have only went to wdw once last April and it was at POP- we figured we weren't in the rooms that much so we didn' care, but after 1 week of having the farthest walk, no view, no balcony even...we knew we wanted something little better. I have only 100 points so I was thinking to maximize my points I as going to go with value this time and then I would know for next time but if everyone says SV is well worth it I will do that then. Thanks for all your help

I can give my advice as an avid booker of value studios at AKL. For me being able to save points and get extra night at AKL is worth the value studio. The room is plenty large in my opinion. Especially if the couch is folded up into a couch and is not pulled out into a bed. I can understand the appeal of SV but with value studios (because of where they are located) you have two view options. You are either going to get SV or pool view. I had pool view in Sept and it was great. You looked down on the pool area which is very nice and it was perfect location. Close to everything. If you are lucky you may get a SV room. Also you can go for a walk at any time and see the animals in the viewing area, by the pool, or from the glass parts of the hallways. I think that if you want to stretch your 100 points further you should go for value studio. But that is just my 2 cents.

that's what i was thinking. where would you stay Jambo house or the new Kadani village? I think from what I read that Jambo is much closer and Kidani will be a bit of a hike

Some of the Value rooms face the parking lot so a parking lot view is also a possibility.

There are no value rooms in Kidani, just Jambo.

Just so you know, some of the rooms in Jambo are quite a bit of a hike, too. From the bus to your room could take a looooooooong time, especially after a long day in the parks.

When DH is missing WDW, he asks me to drop him off at the end of our street (about 1/3 mile, all uphill) so he can walk home and feel like he is back at AKV! :lmao:
