Hi All -

I received a letter in the mail on Saturday stating that Kidani will be undergoing renovating during my stay. The letter is pretty self-explanatory (renovations, they will attempt to keep the noise level down, etc)

Do any of you fine people know what the renovation entails? Is the entire resort affected or just certain areas?

It seems that most of the resorts are undergoing renovations at the same time; at least within the same year. :)

All rooms will be refurbed in sections so it shouldn't be a big issue.

Soft Goods (all rooms). Which usually includes items such as bedding, comforters, curtains, and wall & floor coverings.

We got the same letter and I believe it's just a soft goods refresh.

We were @ Jambo earlier this year for same type. Thankfully, didn't see or hear a thing unlike other refurbs.

I was wondering this as well. We have some resort time planned for afternoon naps so I was wondering how disruptive or noisey the work would be.

Do they plan FAR in advance for these refurbs? The letter said entire floors may be closed. That many rooms out at once had me wondering how they swing that with DVC having such high capacity rates. Unless they take the rooms out of the system 11 months ahead of time.

Is the refurb not suppose to effect the pool? Renting out some pts to a friend for next Feb and initially told her that the Kidani pool would be fun for her kids but then upon booking, the message showed up regarding the refurb so we booked her at Jambo instead. Wonder if I should change her back to Kidani?!

It's a room soft goods refurb. If your friend would prefer to stay at Kidani I'd book that but even if they are staying at Jambo they can use the Kidani pool.

Of course the winter months are typical times for pool refurbs but they usually aren't announced until much closer to the time and Jambo could just as easily get a refurb for that.

What are the chances of getting a refurbished room? We arrive 9/15; it will not make or break our vacation. I am just curious because we are bringing 1st timers so it would be nice to have a renovated room.

Also does anyone have any pictures of the renovated rooms?

Thanks for the link with pics! I was worried when I read about the refurb - not because of noise or inconvenience, but because I love the AKV rooms as they are and hate to see them go the generic way of Boardwalk and Beach Club. SO GLAD they aren't doing those tacky trailer park laminate fold down murphy beds! And doubly glad they won't include "updated" (translate - plain shiny chrome and glass) fixtures!
