AKV Question

Right now we have a room at AKL, Arusha view, reserved for our upcoming trip but after spending a week at the beach in a condo we're really thinking it would be smarter to rent a 1 bedroom at AKV. We have 2 boys who will be 12 months and 33 months when we're there. We reserved Arusha view because my older DS is a huge animal lover and we wanted the best chance of waking up with giraffes in the "back yard". So my question is: is there something similar I can do if we rent at Kidani or Jambo? Or is it just luck of the draw what part of the savanna you get with Savanna view? And would it be better to do Kidani or Jambo based on wanting the best view? Any other words of advice would be greatly appreciated!!

You can book Savanah view but cannot guarantee what savanah you will get. If you were planning to rent from a member you may be out of luck as most accomidations are booked 7-11 months ahead. CRO may have availability for cash reservations.

With a DVC reservation at AKV, the only guarantee you can get with a reservation is to have a savanna view and which building you stay in. You can make a request for Arusha savanna view at Jambo through the member who is renting but such requests are not guaranteed.

All the savannas at Jambo have giraffes. At Kidani there is one large savanna, Sunset , whiuch has giraffes, and another, Pembe which does not although only about 20% of the savanna view rooms overlook Pembe rather than Sunset. Thus you could end up on a savanna without giraffes at Kidani. However, its 1BRs are much larger than the ones at Jambo and have extra bathroom. If you were to choose Kidani savanna view, best single request you could make is "close to lobby." Though not guaranteed if you get that request you will be on Sunset savanna, near a feeding area for giraffes, and close to pool, restaurant, busses, and store.

My suggestion would be to stay at Kidani. In our experience there are a lot more animals out on the savannah and the views seem to be better than at Jambo IMHO. I agree with the previous poster that suggested requesting a room near the lobby....awesome views. Also the parking is a LOT more convenient at Kidani if you will be using your car much. The 1BR's at Kidani all have 2 bathrooms also for whatever that is worth.
