AKV Point Usage Question

Okay, I'm really confused now. When I bought my AKV points I talked to my guide about the fact that I had no intention of using this years points at AKV, but was going to trade them to SSR. He assured me that I'd be able to make a reservation at SSR with them 7 months out. So I called today for our trip September 29 - October 6. Trying to get a SSR studio with our AKV points. Agent at MS was super nice, but said the system wouldn't let him make a reservation with those points at any resort until May 16. Is this right or did the agent make a mistake?

I understood that you could book now as long as the reservation was post 9/1/7 (and not more than 7 months out).

Our guide was specific with us that we COULD use the AKV points for other resorts, but only for stays after 9/07, because that's when AKV officially opens. NO stay can be booked with those points until 5/16, so even though your 7 month window from when you wanted to stay is now, you must wait until 5/16 to book using the AKV points. If you look on the member site, you will see a note by your AKV points that says something like "null" or some such thing like that. That means they are not yet available to use for booking.

Thank you for the clarification. I understood the no stays until after 9/1, and that was never a problem, because our next trip isn't until 9/29. I think my guide was confused on when we could use the points.

Not true.. I booked a night in August 07 using AKV points. Just yesterday.

Were they "true" AKV points, or the points you could get instead of the reduced price?

Are those points developer points? We did not get developer points, because we paid full price (not enough points for discount), but our points are real '07 points for our March use year.

Call up your guide, not MS. I was assured that I could use AKV points to book an end of September stay NOW. It turns out that I don't need the ressie...but I would call your guide, because you should be able to book now, for a stay after Sept. 1.

I was actually told that you cannot use those points until May 16th for any reason. I tried to book a cruise and they said that there were not enough points there with just my SSR points and if I wanted to book now I would have to use my SSR points for one person and pay for the other one. THey said I could not use the AKV points yet at all....

They were true AK points. I did not take the developer points.

I called Member Assurance, the people you are supposed to call when you get your contracts to sign to make sure you understand everything, and they were specific that you could book now for stays at other reosrts.

You can not book at AKV, until the 16th of May.

I would call your guide and have them make the ressie.
