I really need to make a decision today!LOL
I already have a ressie for Nov 9-11 at VWL in a studio. I own at AKV so I can call tomorrow and switch that ressie to AKV studio Savannah view. The week following that ressie we'll be at SSR(also own there) in a 1 bedroom. We plan on not doing any parks on that weekend of the 9th, so we thought a relaxing stay at VWL would be perfect. Now I am thinking maybe we should give AKV a try. What would you do?:confused3 We have visited AKL, but never stayed there. We have been to WL and stayed there but not in the villas. We loved the WL, but is AKV better? Are the food options and pool and activities at the resort better at AKV? Any opinions would be appreciated. So I guess my question is if you were planning a relaxing weekend with 2 young kids(and picky eaters) which would be better, AKV or VWL?
TIA:goodvibes

AKV or VWL, those are my choices, for an upcoming trip too! We won't have children with us, but both places have activities for children. Just for the animals, MY choice is AKV. The room for the cafeteria style eating is larger at the AKL and I think more selections are available there as well.

I think the VWL would win in the pool category...but I think AKV has more playground equipment..at least we saw some when we were visiting there in April. When we had our DGC at the VWL last August, we saw a playground on the sand at VWL, but the sign mentioned it was for older children than what we had, ages 1, 2 and 3. I think the sign said "over 6" but I could be wrong.

PS. When we were visiting AKL, it was feeding time, and the keepers took lots of time to talk to children who were asking questions. It was wonderful seeing the giraffes, there were 3 who really enjoyed their food, and 1 was obviously a baby.

The only thing that would make me say to stay at VWL is your description of your "picky eaters". We LOVE the food at AKL - it's the only place we make an ADR without fail every trip. That being said, we like unusual food and to try new things. It's pretty much all unusual at AKL. The food at VWL will look more "American" to your picky eaters - more barbecue, chicken fingers, etc. I've seen several posts in the past with people complaining about the restaurants at AKL because the food was unfamiliar, spicey, etc - and those were the grownups!

We plan on eating only CS at either one. We will be on the DDP for the last portion of our trip at SSR, but are not getting it for the weekend. DH and I have a dinner planned alone at Il Mulino which isn't on the DDP. The kids will be at Cub's Den which I booked, but can change it to Simba's. So that takes care of dinner on Sat. night. Fri. on arrival day we will eat lunch and dinner at CS. I know my picky eaters will not appreciate the restaurants at AKL and we will be doing TS every night the rest of the week so I think we'll be OK with a day and a half at the CS at either resort. This is another thing that makes this such a hard choice because the restaurants don't play a part in the decision making. What to do? :scratchin

This is our decision as well, for our September trip! I think I'll tag along.... :rolleyes1
