AKV or SSR

Frankly, I'd buy where you PERSONALLY want to stay. Don't worry about the kids. They will show up and love it no matter where you buy. Well, maybe they won't, but they will move on to college and their lives. If you buy where they want, then you will be stuck with it when they leave the nest. It's your money. You make the decision.
This is probably the best point to consider. We also have kids that are starting to get old enough that it won't be too much longer and they will be leaving the nest (hopefully) and starting their own lives and families. We chose AKV, one for the extra years on the contract, and two because even though our sons will get older and giraffes may not be cool anymore, their kids (our grandkids) will love it whenever we get to take them to Disney with us. Plus, as we get older, the rides will become less of the driving force and the quiet, peaceful location and scenery will become more valuable to us.

We chose AKV because I love Animal Kingdom and the resort is so unique. One other major plus was most rooms can accomodiate 5 people. They have great restaurants on site and the new pool area looks terrific. We also purchased a re-sale at BCV figuring we would cover ourselves on what could be two of the more difficult resorts to book at.

We have stayed at SSR, enjoyed it, and will stay there again. It does seem to be the easisit resort to book under the 7 month windo though which really eliminates the need for it being a home resort in our view.

We recently purchased at SSR. If I had known about this discussion forum prior, I might have purchased AKV instead, but I'm happy with my decision.

We purchased now to get the early purchase option for GCV and to get some cheaper pts under our belt (my assumption is that GCV will have higher point costs and higher annual dues) In the long run will probably spend more of our time there or Hawaii once that opens:beach: That said, the lower price points (pt cost and annual dues) was the ultimate reason behind our SSR decision. We were going to only start with 160pts, but some extra incentives sealed the deal for 225. Now I already have addonitis for GCV and Hawaii!

I would buy into where you love to stay the most. We bought at SSR because we loved that the resort was spread out and will suit DH & I just fine when our children grow up and are no longer interested in vacationing with dad & mom.

I saw that you had posted on another thread that you joined DVC.

Welcome Home! :welcome:

Just Curious - Which resort did you go with?

IMHO this is a GREAT point! Anyone looking to buy AKV or SSV... should be wise to this option... that from the looks of the posts on the boards... is only available to those buying at DL.

DVC purchasing is becoming a shade more complicated with different purchase options being offered through DL, Chicago, or on a cruise. If I were buying... I'd study not only what to buy... but also WHERE to buy too.

Yes, we purchased at the DL DVC center. We received a special 'GCV Founding Members' ammendment with our paperwork... I also agree that there are so many options now - purchase through DVC (various sites) new or closed properties, resale... You can research yourself crazy before making a decision! I'm very indecisive, so I'm glad I didn't know about all these possible combinations, I would have never been able to choose! :crazy2:
