AKV or BWV waitlist

We are all set for our August trip to AKV for a 2 Bedroom with the fam, and I noticed that a BWV 2 bedroom w/lockoff waitlist opportunity appeared for entire duration. Now I know the odds of the waitlist coming through are 50/50, but I'm curious if anyone would put themselves on the waitlist at BWV with the renovations going on. The last time we were at BWV, we had a Deluxe Studio, but this trip we'll be in a 2BDR.

One thing I enjoyed about BWV was the location. Would you try for BWV or stay with AKV if given the choice? I'm just trying to weigh the pros and cons :)

The renovations are almost complete; so they should be done by September. I'd go for BWV personally, but I am an owner there and I love being able to walk to 2 parks. I like AKV but it's so far from everything except AK.

BWV 2 bedrooms are notoriously hard to book. It's definitely where I would prefer staying out of the two though. You can put it on a waitlist, but there would only be a very small chance that it will come through. If you have nothing else to waitlist, then go for it! If you have other things to put on your waitlist, the waitlist slot would probably be more useful elsewhere.

Personal view is that either is fine (I own at both). BWV supposedly should be done by Aug. It was originally supposed to be done by March 1 and is still going on, including because they apparently screwed up doing part of the resort and have had to redo. In essence, it should be done by Aug, but we cannot claim that with certainty.

An additional issue, this close to Aug, is how long to wait for a waitlist to come through. If you have a 2BR AKV savanna view in Aug, such requires more points for weekend nights than BWV p/g or bw view (weekday nights are the same point cost). If the waitlist is granted 30 days or fewer before arrival, you could lose some points that come out of the AKV reservation to holding. Thus, if you do a waitlist, you should consider having it expire at least 31 days before arrival, if not granted by then.

Another possible consideration if your current reservation is at Kidani. The Kidani 2BRs are about 100 sq ft larger than BWV 2BRs and have 3 bathrooms to BWV's 2.

If you’re having a park heavy go go go vacation if pick BWV. If you’re having a relaxing vacation with some park visit time I’d pick AKV.

I really, really liked AKV. And it is honestly quite close to Epcot and DHS, only MK is a haul.

I would always choose BW over AK, so much more to do easily available. I like AKV as well but would prefer a shorter stay. Just back from a few days at BWV one bedroom, the rooms are beautiful and brand new, AKV is due for refurb. Try a waitlist, if you don't get, it'll be great at AKV as well. Last I heard from somewhere on these boards the work is now supposed to be complete in June.

We (Myself and my 2 Kids) stayed in a 1BR last time. This time we are staying in a 2BR bringing my SO and her 2 children, both the same age as mine. The two teenage girls will have one room, the boys will have the pullout sofa/chair. I'm leaning towards AK because of the bathroom situation. I can see the boys and girls fighting for the bathroom 😆

I figured it would be a slim chance, and the only open room is a 2BR LO. Maybe we'll do it, maybe not! Thanks

For me, nothing beats the location of the Boardwalk and the atmosphere of the Crescent Lake area. I stayed at Jambo once, and it was very nice, but this question really comes down to what you are looking for. In my case, my parents have owned at BWV since 2000, so when I have a trip where I do not stay there, I feel like something is missing. I also have a proclivity to avoid WDW buses as much as possible, so BWV wins out here for me.

I love both BWV and AKV (Kidani in particular). Where to stay depends on what kind of trip you want. For us, if we want to be walkable / not have to ride a bus to two parks we would pick BWV. If we want a slower paced trip and a view of the animals we would go for AKV.

That said, I found your statement odd. You can always waitlist a room if your arrival is outside of 7 days. I wouldn't "go" for the BWV just because you saw you could waitlist it. I could waitlist a AKV Value Studio for the month of February if I wanted to :-)

The waitlist wasn't available anymore anyways, so AKV we go :)

I still don't understand this? Do you mean your waitlist came through and a cast member contacted you to see if you wanted it but by the time you made up your mind they had already put the room back in inventory? You can always make a waitlist.

No, at the time there was waitlist availability and I was asking what everyone's opinions were. I never "joined" the waitlist.

Ok, but there is always waitlist "availability" as in you can always create a waitlist unless arrival is within 7 days.

At any rate I'm sure you'll be happy with your decision. Enjoy.

After thinking about things, the "third" bathroom in the 2BDR at AKV will be important with two teenage girls and 2 preteen boys!
