AKV Kitchens

So I have read some threads on here regarding the kitchens at AKV. At this point, we have only stayed in a studio at AKV for our first trip. Our next trip we will have a 1BR for me, DH, DD17, DS13. I have a HUGE kitchen at home. I saw Lisa_S's pics of the model which will be like Kidani accommodations. Maybe it's just the pics that make it look so small but I am a little concerned.

Of course, I have heard OKW kitchens are huge but I'm not into the drive to your door motel feel. But is this the typical size of the kitchens or are there bigger kitchens? Anyone have any idea about the Grand Villa kitchens? Looking into a reunion in Jan 2011.....

We, like you, have a huge kitchen at home. When we stay at AKV in the 1BR, the kitchen is adequate to do what cooking we want to do. It isn't as nice as our home kitchen by any means, but I was able to make what I wanted there.

We did buy some additional items for the kitchen to put in our OL because they don't have all the cooking items I like to have, but space wasn't an issue.

If you have a huge kitchen at home, you will probably feel cramped in the AKV kitchen. However, it is certainly big enough to do whatever cooking needs to be done.

We have an enormous kitchen at home, but didn't really feel too cramped in the Jambo House kitchen we got last fall... we're both more concerned about the Kidani Village kitchen for our next trip. The JH one was long and stretched out, whereas the KV ones appear to be more like the little U shaped ones elsewhere. It'll still work, but not for more than a couple of people at a time.

HATED it! Very inconvenient compared to OKW. We could hardly wait to get back to OKW the second week!

For the poster who said they didn't like the "motel" feel of OKW...Have you stayed there????? Doesn't feel like a drive up motel at all! More like a townhouse vacation home!

I agree. You might feel completely different if you give it a try. I know we do!!!!!!
