We are hoping to stay at Jambo House Club Level on rented points. Would we be able to use the really cool pool and water play area at Kidani? I read somewhere that is excluded from pool hopping but since Jambo House is part of the same resort it might work the same way as POFQ and PORS.

I wouldnt worry, you could stop at a hotel on I drive, travel to WDW use a different pool every day and the likelyhood of anyone saying anything would be around nil. pool hopping priveleges are worth nothing, anyone can do it.

All guests of a hotel can use all the pools at that hotel. All the pools at Animal Kingdom Lodge are open to all the guests of all the various parts of Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Pool hopping is strictly regulated, in some more popular pools, despite what the previous poster posted.

I don't think that that is correct. AKL guests can not use the pool at Kidani Village, AKV guests can. In other words, DVC members are allowed to use both pools, CRO guests are not.

Is that exception documented somewhere?

I wouldn't call it an exception. Guests from non-DVC resorts are not allowed to use the pools at DVC resorts.

AKL is a non-DVC resort so the guests there are not allowed to use the pool at Kidani which is a DVC resort.

Pool hoping is a DVC perk, not a Disney resort guest perk.

My understanding is that Animal Kingdom Lodge is one resort, just like BoardWalk is one resort, and Contemporary is one resort. Everyone who is a guest of any part of a resort can use all the facilities of that one resort, even if located in or near a building associated with some pat of the resort.

No, I do not believe that is correct. Any guest staying at AKL/AKV can use the facilities at either building. They are considered to be one resort. There is no restriction to being a DVC member to use the Kidani facilities.

The only DVC exclusive facility that I am aware of currently is the lounge at BLT for members staying there on points or cash.

Okay, thanks! I'm glad I'm not going crazy. :)

I still disagree. AKV Kidani is just like BLT. Guests staying at the Contemporary are not allowed to use the BLT pool but BLT DVC guests can use the Contemporary pool. Contemporary KTTW cards will not open any door at BLT.

Does AKL have card readers to enter the pool area, I don't remember? Kidani does have card readers to keep non guests out.

I just bought into the DVC and when I spoke to my rep Ron 2 weeks ago at Kidani Village, he told me we couldn't use the pool there unless we were DVC Members. We were staying at AKL. Honestly, how could they tell? :confused3

This is what I read also. Where? I'll have to think. Seems we need something official here.

We stayed at AKV Jambo Concierge level on points for 8 nights in June. The map of the resort we were issued at checkin indicates that guests of AKL are free to use amenities at both resorts.

From the DVC Member website:

Samawati Springs Pool
Cool off in this zero-entry pool that features a 128-ft. long water slide. Take relaxation to a whole new level in one of the two whirlpool spas near the main pool, or refresh at Maji Pool Bar. Samawati Springs Pool is available only to Members and non-Members staying at Jambo House and Kidani Village.

And since BLT was mentioned, here is how the Member site reads for the Bay Cove pool:
Bay Cove Pool
The planned zero-depth-entry pool overlooks beautiful Bay Lake and features a distinctive water slide, a shallow pool designed especially for younger children, and a separate, relaxing whirlpool spa. Bay Cove Pool is available only to Members and non-Members who are staying at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

I just returned from AKL on August 29th. I am DVC member but my friends are not. Both my key card AND there key card for there room which they paid in cash could open the gate to the Kidani pool. There were Jambo guests over there for the whole two weeks. They even advertise this at check-in. They will tell you how to get over there on the busses at check-in and in your check in folder it says it on the Animal Kingdom activities sheet. My friends used the facalities the whole time they were there. Kidani village and Jambo House are different than the BLT in the fact that it is considered ONE resort and both the village and the lodge are considered the same. BLT is a different matter that is why you need a key card just to enter the BLT building itself.

When we stayed in May we were told all guests could use all amenities - even the pools.

Just to clarify b/c I believed that information to be correct I contacted AKL today specifically about CRO rooms and here is the info I received back.

"All of our guests at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Jambo House and Kidani Village have access to all amenities of both resorts, with the exception of the concierge lounge as you mentioned. So they can go to the Kidani pool as well. "

Obviously lots of confusion about it but again every credible source I've ever talked to or seen quoted states that AKL/AKV is all one resort and there is no distinction in what can be used by any guests staying at either resort.

I guess for now I will agree that anyone staying at AKL/AKV can use either pool. I was unable to get a definitive answer from Disney Guest Relations. One Cast Member said yes, and on a second call a different Agent said no. The question has been referred to a Manager who will get back to me.

We stayed at Kidani in June and we chit chatted with quite a few people at the pool that were staying at Jambo House and were not staying in DVC rooms at Jambo House.
The room keys from Jambo House would open the door to the pool at Kidani.

Despite the debate on who can/can't use the Kidani pool area, note the OP is staying on rented points. As such they are considered guests of the DVC owner and all privileges* of one staying on points are extended to them for their stay. DVC members & their guests, regardless of which house, Jambo or Kidani, they are staying in are permitted to use the Kidani pool area.

Maznorm, your card key should work on the Kidani pool gate without issue & from my past rental experiences, should say "DVC member" on it. :wizard:

* Privileges will not include the DVC discounts for which a member would need to show a member ID card for.

When Kidani opened, they issued printed promo and amenities description material that said all guests at both resorts can use amenities at both resorts including pools.

I saw the card readers at Kadani but not at Jambo.
